  Erm. I'm sorry, I'm not sure if this has been asked before.... but...
  
  Is there a cap for the cost incurred by a commuter travelling by both the MRT and bus? Like for instance, today I take a bus to a MRT station, then take a train... and then I get off and switch to a bus, which takes me to another bus stop where I take YET another bus to my destination?

  oh i dunno abt LRT, but frm wat i can remember, the highest fare for transfering betw buses is 1.90.

  $1.90 fare cap is only for 3 transfers made on SBST buses. If you take a TIBS bus or MRT, the cap offer will cease to be valid.

  does that mean if i take a bus, then a train, then two more buses, even the BUS fares won't be capped at $1.90 in the case that I take them over a long distance?
  
  or do you mean, in the scenario that i gave, i'll be charged the max of $1.90 [assuming i take from east to west and back again.. long distance] PLUS the MRT fare?

  Yes, as long as you break the chain of 3 SBST buses the bus fares will not be capped. That scenario you gave, the bus fares WILL NOT be capped.

  First three only. But its a hassle to redeem fare cap, one must go to the Transitlink offices.

  It is not T Link office, but SBST offices where there is a notebook with a Trident as a background. There will have a paper notice on "Bus Fare Cap" above.

  Essentially, we would seldom take bus transfer trip more than $1.90... You can treat this policy redundent...

  1. MRT Ride
  You will be charged normal fares for your first MRT ride.
  
  2. Bus Ride
  Since this is a transfer from MRT to Bus (please board 30 mins from exiting the MRT fare gates) you will pay the normal fares minus a transfer rebate of 25 cents (Adult/Senior Citizen) or 10 cents (Child/Student).
  
  3. Second Bus Ride
  If you have boarded this bus within 2 hours from entering the MRT gate and within 45 minutes of tapping the reader to alight from the previous bus ride then this is also a transfer ride and you enjoy the transfer rebates.

  actually not exactly.. SBST has in place to fully implement the fare cap by April this year.. they did not implement it fully now cos of the differences in the conditions of transfer rebates are not finalised (fare and time from boarding VS time from alighting TO next transfer ride boarding)..
