Just for your information, service 171 is the only service in Yishun Central / Woodlands Central area to go into the heart of Orchard Road.Originally posted by tranquilice:In my previous suggestion, service 171 goes into the city from Bt Panjang. For those in Yishun, they can take services 167 or 857.
Service 171 does not ply Woodlands Central.Originally posted by off_service:Just for your information, service 171 is the only service in Yishun Central / Woodlands Central area to go into the heart of Orchard Road.
Sorry, what I meant was service 171 is the only service from Yishun Central to Orchard. Therefore, the link should not be termintated.Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 171 does not ply Woodlands Central.
Service 167 does not ply Yishun Central, but it serves Chong Pang City which is in Yishun.
He said that that part of Sv 171 should not be terminated, but just connected to Sv 172...plus the route via Bukit Panjang is very long winded anyway...Originally posted by off_service:Sorry, what I meant was service 171 is the only service from Yishun Central to Orchard. Also, many Sembawang Airbase personnels take service 171 from Sembawang Road to Yishun / Chong Pang.

OK...since Yishun needs a direct link to Orchard...new service linking Yishun to Orchard/Newton...Yishun - Sungei Rd (Loop)
Yishun Interchange - Yishun Ave 2 - Lentor Ave - Yio Chu Kang Rd - CTE - Moulmein Rd - Thomson Rd - Cavenagh Rd - Bukit Timah Rd - Scotts Rd - Orchard Rd - Bras Basah Rd - Prinsep St - Selegie Rd - Sungei Rd - Bencoolen St - Orchard Rd - Penang Rd - Somerset Rd - Orchard Turn - Orchard Boulevard - Paterson Rd - Scotts Rd - Keng Lee Rd - Thomson Rd - Moulmein Rd - CTE - Yio Chu Kang Rd - Lentor Ave - Yishun Ave 2 - Yishun Interchange
For 1st paragraph, I suggest service 167 to be amended, via Yishun Ave 7, Ave 2, Ave 3 and continue with current route. (towards Bt Merah) This route to Orchard is faster than service 171 which goes via Mandai, Bt Panjang, Upp Bt Timah and Dunearn.Originally posted by off_service:Sorry, what I meant was service 171 is the only service from Yishun Central to Orchard. Agreed, it's long winded.Originally posted by sbs&tibs:Route is even more longer unless it is amended to terminate at Gelang lor 1 using victoria st & Kallang rd.

Earlier, someone mentioned (maybe in another thread) about combining 502 and 111. I've taken the initiative to create a combined route.
In the case of this combined 111 + 502, it will skip 2 pairs of bus stops along Napier Road in both directions.
In the direction to Suntec, it is Red Plate and stops at Ghim Moh Terminal and south bound Ghim Moh Road.
It uses White Plate in the direction to Boon Lay and stops only on the north bound Ghim Moh Road and alighting only at Ghim Moh Terminal.
Services 74, 99 and 105 are used as precedents for fare stage calculations. I've assumed 0.5 fare stage between Clementi Avenue 2 and Clementi Road in both directions as there is no precedent set.

Update: Can someone confirm whether a right turn from Ghim Moh Road to Commonwealth Avenue West is possible?
Yes, I purposedly skipped it. I did mention in my original post.Originally posted by service_238:Yes It is possible although not many vehicles use it.
Red plate: Missed out the bus stop outside Blk 13 @GHM Rd. Did u purposely skip it?
White Plate: Missed out the stop outside Blk 12 @GHM Rd. Another skipping?
How abt using the red and white plate to the advantage i.e call the GHM bus stops in both directions?
Just my 2 cents... hope u dont mind...![]()

You had removed the stops os/opp Holland Village for too . Prior the cutbacks to Suntec, I had requested for SBST502 to stop at HV for better connections between Holland V and Sengkang and Holland V and Boon Lay. Hence I won't feel good if that were to be removed.Originally posted by Yusry:In the case of this combined 111 + 502, it will skip 2 pairs of bus stops along Napier Road in both directions.
Your comments are hereby noted. I will finetune the route. Anyway, this is just a fantasy route.Originally posted by iamgoondu:You had removed the stops os/opp Holland Village for too .
