DAF Buses

What do you think of DAF buses?
From my observation, DAF buses seems to be a rural area type of bus & also used for unprofitable services. 172,175 & 985 , they are a good example. These services are unprofitable, and they go deep into not so known areas of singapore. What do you think of DAFs -

So, TIBS lucky year must be 1995, they actually bought quite a lot of buses, the MB0405, DAF, CAC MB0405 and that's all. At the same year, they took over Bukit Panjang, so 1995 must be their lucky year. Any Comments?Originally posted by xin1jun2:Ok its matsh time. bought in 1995 the DAFs.

Not really, it's the year where they expanded most agressively. The Alexander bodied DAF is another bus that had deteriorated quickly. It is dirty, noisy and shaky. I like the engine sound as it is actually a derivative from a Leyland engine. DAF and Leyland had collaborated before, you know. The DAF lacked torque but it can go fast. The Hispano DAFs had proved that while on svs. 950, 951 and 952. As for the Alexander ones, try taking 172 or 175 and you'll see.

Hmmm....think u probably got a rather ill maintained one. The DAFs on 852 are rather quiet and stable at the rear compared to the lances. Due to some gear ratio or some differential things, DAFs are slow at picking up speed, but their top speed can be real fast. I'd experienced a DAF speeding all the way to Changi Airport before.

Are DAFs deployed from Woodlands, AMK or Kranji Depot? If you say that the DAFs are dirty, it must be deployed from Kranji Depot. Kranji Depot doesn't maintain their buses well.
