I'm sure he's not the only one. Bendy drivers have to go through a special training on how to manouver the buses. Since SBS has only 2 Bendys, the number of authorised drivers is just a handful. I once rode 999U with a Malay 'makcik' (auntie) at the wheel.Originally posted by carbikebus:As above,Been taking 998 for numerous of time and always see this same uncle driving this bus,Also 999 been taking twice same driver too.No idea for 997 though.Any![]()

Aha,Thanx for the useful infos guys!Originally posted by Superbus:For SBS998Y, 3 drivers were selected to drive the bus when it was new on Service 18. I think the 3 drivers were selected after rigorous training with the bus for several months. But ever since SBS999U joined the fleet, more drivers (not sure the number though) were selected to drive 998Y & 999U, including the 'Makcik'.
Cheers and warm regards
Technically, 997A belongs to him and him only?! lolz..Originally posted by SBS9818A:I know of 3 Sv. 18 bendy drivers, the makcik, an older man and a young man. As for 997A it's always the SAME one driver, if he calls in sick, 997A will not operate for the day.
Yes, he's the only trained 997A driver in HGDEP.Originally posted by service_238:Technically, 997A belongs to him and him only?! lolz..
Have sat 998Y with the makcik driving. That was in the mornings.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:I'm sure he's not the only one. Interestingly the makcik prefers 998Y over 999U. I talked to her before and she said before driving the bendys, she drove double-decks and 12m buses.Originally posted by delonchew:Have sat 998Y with the makcik driving. That was in the mornings.
i dont think so. it's as good as driving any other normal busOriginally posted by rancour5:Do they get extra allowance for driving 997, 998 and 999?
SBS 997 A is serving service 62. After trials on sv 76, 107 and 174, this bus has NEVER left service 62. Wonder whyOriginally posted by AdAptAliS:May i know what service 997 is serving? 998 & 999 are both on svc 18 right?
I guess u can check their timesheet if you're free in the afternoons.Originally posted by leeJZ:Do any of you know the schedules for the two bendies on Sv 18? Like when they depart Tampines or Bedok? The only other bendies here are on Sv 67 which I never take and one or two here and there on Sv 969 on weekends...
It'd be much easier to keep special buses on one service, to minimise retraining and accidents.Originally posted by off_service:SBS 997 A is serving service 62. After trials on sv 76, 107 and 174, this bus has NEVER left service 62. Wonder why
Yes, SBS 998 Y and SBS 999 U are on service 18.
