Nope. At least that's what the 1985 Bus Map showed. Service 12 has already plied Bedok South Ave 3/Bedok South Road/Bedok South Ave 1 back then.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes, I know about its former route. Did service 12 plied Bedok Rd (between New Upp Changi Rd and Upp East Coast Rd) back then?
For those interested, this route has been in place since at least 1981.Originally posted by Superbus:Nope. At least that's what the 1985 Bus Map showed. Service 12 has already plied Bedok South Ave 3/Bedok South Road/Bedok South Ave 1 back then.

Ok. So was it only services 10, 11, 14 and 155 that plied the present Eastwood Mall/Bedok camp area in the 1980s?Originally posted by Superbus:Nope. At least that's what the 1985 Bus Map showed. Service 12 has already plied Bedok South Ave 3/Bedok South Road/Bedok South Ave 1 back then.

This is what I can gather from the 1985 Bus Map.Originally posted by tranquilice:But I have forgotten service 11 route.I only know it operated from Somapah to New Bridge Rd.
Does it means services 11 and 12 duplicated one another from junction of Upp East Coast Rd/Bedok Sth Ave 1 to New Bridge Rd?Originally posted by Superbus:This is what I can gather from the 1985 Bus Map.
Service 11 - Somapah to New Bridge Road
Somapah Terminal, Upp Changi Rd, Bedok Rd, Upp East Coast Rd, East Coast Rd, Mountbatten Rd, Kallang Rd, Crawford St, North Bridge Rd, South Bridge Rd, Neil Rd & New Bridge Rd Terminal.
Return via New Bridge Rd Terminal, New Bridge Rd, Hill St, Victoria St, Kallang Rd, Mountbatten Rd, East Coast Rd, Upp East Coast Rd, Bedok Rd, Upp Changi Rd & Somapah Terminal.
As we can see, Service 11's route is much like a duplicated Service 12.
Suhirman, please correct if there are any mistakes.
Cheers and warm regards
I think they are sold separately.Originally posted by xin1jun2:yup

Service 11 duplicated Service 12 from Upp East Coast Rd/Bedok South Ave 1 until North Bridge Rd/North Boat Quay. Following is Service 12's route in 1985.Originally posted by tranquilice:Does it means services 11 and 12 duplicated one another from junction of Upp East Coast Rd/Bedok Sth Ave 1 to New Bridge Rd?
Interesting to note that it plied Upp Circular Rd.Originally posted by Superbus:Service 11 duplicated Service 12 from Upp East Coast Rd/Bedok South Ave 1 until North Bridge Rd/North Boat Quay. Following is Service 12's route in 1985.
Service 12 - Somapah to Buona Vista
Somapah Terminal, Upp Changi Rd East, New Upp Changi Rd, Bedok South Ave 3, Bedok South Rd, Bedok South Ave 1, Upp East Coast Rd, East Coast Rd, Mountbatten Rd, Geylang Rd, Kallang Rd, Crawford St, North Bridge Rd, Upp Circular Rd, River Valley Rd, Alexandra Rd, Margaret Dr, Commonwealth Ave, North Buona Vista Rd, Buona Vista Terminal.
Return via Buona Vista Terminal, North Buona Vista Rd, Commonwealth Ave, Margaret Dr, Alexandra Rd, River Valley Rd, Hill St, Victoria St, Kallang Rd, Mountbatten Rd, East Coast Rd, Upp East Coast Rd, Bedok South Ave 1, Bedok South Rd, Bedok South Ave 3, New Upp Changi Rd, Upp Changi Rd East, Somapah Terminal.
From here, I can deduce that Service 32 (Bedok-Upp Cross St) was later amended to terminate at Buona Vista with Service 12's route; and Service 12 amended to terminate at New Bridge Rd with Service 11's route. Service 11-withdrawn.

Yes, Service 32's route back then is the same as the present one.Originally posted by tranquilice:Interesting to note that it plied Upp Circular Rd.
Service 32 route from Bedok - Upp Cross St is the same as present?
Does sv 32 serve Upper Cross St?Originally posted by tranquilice:Interesting to note that it plied Upp Circular Rd.

32 once looped at Upper Cross Street, similar to 104.Originally posted by off_service:Does sv 32 serve Upper Cross St?
Did service 12 turned right into Eu Tong Sen St from Upp Circular Rd or turned left then make a U-turn?Originally posted by Superbus:Yes, Service 32's route back then is the same as the present one.

Good question. Too bad I don't have the answer.Originally posted by tranquilice:Did service 12 turned right into Eu Tong Sen St from Upp Circular Rd or turned left then make a U-turn?
I believe it was a "right" because Eu Tong Sen St was a 1 way road there back then.Originally posted by tranquilice:Did service 12 turned right into Eu Tong Sen St from Upp Circular Rd or turned left then make a U-turn?
This is more possible than the later, the latter is not that possible due to the bridge over S'pore river.Originally posted by Yusry:I believe it was a "right" because Eu Tong Sen St was a 1 way road there back then.
The other possibility, without checking the relevant street directory, River Valley Road and Upp Circular St formed a very wide road junction along with Eu Tong Sen St. Thus, there was no "right" turn.
On the contrary, the original rt. 27 (Tampines - Changi Airport, around 1990) was as direct as it could be. It went via Tampines Ave 5 then entered the PIE to Changi Airport. In fact, before the opening of the CGA line, taking the MRT to Tampines and then transfer to 27 was the best way to get to Changi Airport.Originally posted by SBS9845X:Service 27. The route currently plies from sengkang to changi airport. Too much winding around in hougang area. And even in the old 27 route, (from tampines to changi airport), it still sux, as there is really ALOT ALOT of winding around tampines. It can take 30 minutes during peak hours to get out of TAMPINES TOWN to hit the expressways!

Winding around Tampines? It just cuts through it in quite a direct way, after getting off the PIE it goes on Ave 5, Ave 4, Ave 7, Ave 9 and Ave 10...quite a direct route to the TPE except it could be made shorter by following Sv 969...Originally posted by SBS9845X:Service 27.
