What services are Tridents deployed on?

One thing about VSOs i'd love to comment is the flat floor on the sides of the upper deck. It makes my foot feel more comfortable. LOs VOs and Tridents' floor are curved like a gutter on the sides. VSOs are actually quite friendly IMO.
Its the first zero step, low floor bus to appear in Singapore in sizeable numbers. ( TIBS don't even have one!!! yet they say they have.... ) It had brought lots of convenience to old folks and parents with babies as a folded wheelchair/stroller can be easily wheeled on board.
I always fall asleep on a VSO "long-haul" ie svc 161 and 168. The seats on the upper deck and in the middle is the quietest, and with the strong A/C and reclining seats with high pitch, it is perfect for sleeping!!! -

So SBS has chosen the VSO over the Trident, maybe they should dump the Trident since they only have some 20 examples? Just like airlines - less types in the fleet
BTW not to say I dont like the Tridents...they're not bad

I'd rather SBST buy in more Tridents and dump the VSOs though. IMO, Tridents are the quietest DDs to grace Singapore roads. Coming second is the 96-series VOs.

They should buy more of both. Both are almost equally ranked for me, tridents being the fact that the last row is often too hot for comfort,as well as the very hard and straight seats...i relax on the bus, not train my posture!!!. Other bad things of the B10TLs(better not call it VSO, later got B12TL come out (lolz))
(1): Too slow(esp with the Voith), even at 60km h^-1, it sounds conspitated.
(2): B10TLs are only 10 liter buses, like most Vovlo buses only has 9.6 liter, what can you expect, even our gentle looking lovable Scania N113CRB has more than 10 liters
(3) You'll always see 858/965/969 O405s overtaking them, quite like (1)
(4) Too noisy, besides 9888Y and 9810X, they are all noise pollutants both in the interior and exterior.
(5) Noisy sounds are ok in some standard, as long as they are pleasent, but B10TLs sounds very unpleasent, even the lances having a louder blasting sound(than the radiator sound of B10TLs) sounds plesant. -

You seem not to like the VSO... but its ok.. to each his own preference.. For me i dont really like the chassis of the upper deck of the tridents.. it looks so squarish. As for VSO i love the seats and i find them better than the Trident seats... maybe i take the VSOs more than the Tridents.. haha..

Hmm like both buses..The VSOs induce me to like it by their so called radiator sound which i find it quite unique in its own way while the Tridents is super comfy and fast bus too in my view
So no particular preferances for me

Once again, I would like to stress the following:
1. VSOs are totally speed limited b/w 60 - 65 km/h. As a result, VSOs don't speed fast as other vehicles. The fault does not lie on Voith gearbox actually. It's just that the revving of the engine is high.
2. Tridents are pretty good, except that the seats are a little bit harder, and the staircase is a little bit more narrow.
3. VSOs do produce higher level of noise due to - 1. Buses run on diesel, that is why it's so much noisier. 2. Unlike any other conventional double deck buses, the VSOs have their radiators at the right side of the bus, which therefore cause a higher noise level.
I hope that such information, which is based on what I've known and observed, could let you guys know what's the fact behind all these factors. Also, I feel that we shouldn't complain too much about the buses used on Singapore roads. Comparing with third world countries that use very very old TATA Buses and whatsoever, we're consider quite fortunate. Also, we should not bear grudges why we couldn't get some other excellent buses from other countries. Bus companies do have financial limitations and they try to save whatever they would from budgeting. And of course, this is a much more "politically correct" way of stating how bus companies function. Hope that what I've discussed over here would enlight you guys here. -
