Hmm..If this is the case,Why won't LTA suggest to TIBS to introduced a new JB service from Tuas Ter to Senai?Originally posted by Superbus:The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has clamped down on two buses that have been operating without licences between Lavender MRT Station and Senai Airport in Johor.
The LTA said that both vehicles were brought back to its office for investigation yesterday evening. One was a Malaysian-registered bus, the other was Singapore-registered.
Statements have also been taken from the drivers.
The incident comes just two months after LTA turned down applications from Comfort Bus and a Malaysian bus operator to ferry peoplebetween Singapore and Senai Airport - something which Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia had been pushing for.
"LTA would also like to highlight that passengers on board buses without the requisite licences risk not being protected by the necessary insurance cover in the event of accidents involving such buses," it said in a statement.

Yeo Cheow Tong said that Singapore did not allow any shuttle service between Singapore and Senai due to Singapore's national interest as the top regional air-hub.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Hmm..If this is the case,Why won't LTA suggest to TIBS to introduced a new JB service from Tuas Ter to Senai?
Hmm,I see,No wonder Airasia and Comfortbus is being rejected for their applications.Originally posted by Superbus:Yeo Cheow Tong said that Singapore did not allow any shuttle service between Singapore and Senai due to Singapore's national interest as the top regional air-hub.

To clarify, MAS and AirAsia are 2 separate entities. They are in no way linked to each other. AirAsia is looking into launching Singapore AirAsia, and with Thai AirAsia operating out of Singapore now, Malaysia AirAsia technically is not losing the market. Furthermore, Thai AirAsia and Malaysia AirAsia is technically one company.Originally posted by th1988:I think Asia Asia may have to face it.
Call CGIA or you just miss the market as Valu Air and SIA Budget Airline is coming up.
*This applies to MAS Air Asia only. Thai Air Asia has called CGIA.
If that's the case, use what short names to write Malaysia then?Originally posted by Superbus:To clarify, MAS and AirAsia are 2 separate entities. They are in no way linked to each other. Not true, they are runned by differnent ppl.Originally posted by Superbus:Furthermore, Thai AirAsia and Malaysia AirAsia is technically one company.

You mentioned the word "runned". Good.Originally posted by th1988:Not true, they are runned by differnent ppl.
Malaysia Air Asia is runned by Tony
However, its Thai co is a JV with Shin Corp and the boss is a Thai
Emm.True indeed!Originally posted by Superbus:You mentioned the word "runned". Good.
Let me cite an example. SilkAir is headed by one man and SIA is headed by another man. But, it is still one company. So no matter who runs the airline, it is still under the same one company.
I would prefer to call Thai AirAsia as the Thai subsidiary of parent AirAsia. Also, Thai AirAsia is utilising Malaysia AirAsia planes. Tassapon Bijleveld is the CEO of AirAsia's operations in Thailand.
Because Malaysian Airlines is already known as MAS, it is advisable not to use MAS to replace Malaysia. Instead, I would suggest "M'sia" if you feel typing Malaysia is too tiring.

So you want Syed to further break into SGP's infrastructure?Originally posted by iamgoondu:Thought Singapore strives to be the freeest economy?
If Airasia is willing to provide shuttle services between Senai and Lavender/Jurong East, why stop them?
I took Airasia from Senai to Penang at 100RM for a single trip. It's excellent, the flight itself is only 45minutes. Depart from Senai at 0730h and arriving Penang at 0815h. That's fantasic, I managed to have sumptous breakfast in Penang.
Unfortunately what's put me off is my journey from HV to Senai.
Taking a cab from HV to Woodland checkpoint at 0545h cost me $15. Taking a cab from JB to Senai another RM 25. And fortunately I manage to arrive at Senai at 0645h.
By removing that shuttle service, it deprived us the benefits of a cheaper and quicker mode of connectivity between Singapore and Senai.
What freeest economy are we talking about???
Yes, what an irony.Originally posted by iamgoondu:Thought Singapore strives to be the freeest economy?

Zilchster, this is another issue, what's more important is the protectionism S'pore is practising!Originally posted by Zilchster:I fully applaud what the LTA has done with those buses supposingly 'not related to Air Asia'...the chairman...of course denies this...but then again...
We should penalise them for doing this...withdraw thai air asia rights to land in SG...haha
I know the Air Asia fares r cheap...but u know their legroom is miserable at 29 inches...do u tink their aircraft is probably maintained? Sometimes cheap may not be good...who knows that flight might be ur one way ticket to ... hell~~~~~~~~~
Well...even if SIA crashes AGAIN...expect ur folks to receive a good amount of compensation...u tink Air Asia would?
You allow free compeition.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Zilchster, this is another issue, what's more important is the protectionism S'pore is practising!
Free competition is good for all. PSA lost its customers because it was unwilling to reduce its charges and well deserved it! With competition better service will be brought about. You obviously don't understand the way economy works, huh?Originally posted by th1988:You allow free compeition.
But later, we will have what PSA had experienced. M'sia is trying to transform Johor to complete with us. Can't your see the picture now?

But what abt the jobs? 22,000 jobs at CGIA is at stake.
As for PSA, I can tell you this, the thing is killed PSA was land cost.

Workers at CGIA suffer because they are NOT COMPETITIVE ENOUGH. You don't understand English?Originally posted by th1988:Study this subject or not.
If you introduce compeition, who suffer, not us bus spotters, but workers at CGIA
