All the bus stops in Sembawang by Adshel doesn't have the glass panelsOriginally posted by iamgoondu:???
I refer to those newer ones (bulit in 2003). These bus stops (along Holland Road, Commonwealth Ave, Clementi Road...) now have bus guides in one of the 2 advertising panels. Almost all Adshell busstops with those 2 advertising panels now have one of them taken up by bus guides.
You probably have yet to notice those bus guides.
Some do. Bishan St 22 BS opposite Catholic High, although old, has Adshel panels for advertisements. Instead its unused.Originally posted by off_service:But if you look carefully, only those bus stops by Adshel that were built earlier comes with the glass panels for the guides. Probably they realized that those neighbourhood bustops will not have many services running through.Originally posted by off_service:All the bus stops in Sembawang by Adshel doesn't have the glass panelsDon't tell me neighbourhood towns should be deprived of the useful information.

Bukit Batok also neighbourhood, they have those glass panels for guides.Originally posted by iamgoondu:Probably they realized that those neighbourhood bustops will not have many services running through.
Anyway all busstops (4 of them) along Holland Ave (with only 4 services) have detailed bus route information on those 4 services. It is good to have but it is ok to do without them too.

Yah.....they installed in 2002 and then its left there. If im not wrong, the pair of bus stops has the glass panels. Dunno why they want to install them. Perhaps as a desperate attempt to "modernise" the bus stop?Originally posted by SBS9818A:Some do. Bishan St 22 BS opposite Catholic High, although old, has Adshel panels for advertisements. And they paste a notice saying "Paste no bills" when its obviously meant for that purpose.Originally posted by TIB1186Z:Yah.....they installed in 2002 and then its left there. I think the transport companies pay for the bus guides.Originally posted by iamgoondu:Seems like noone has the answer as to who pay for the bus guides. Hopefully the monies is not from the smokers, else the smokers will have to pay more and more each year.
Maintenance for these bus guides is not cheap. It's not cheap if the bus guides incur recurring monthly charges for renting of those advertising panels.
Every savings count,
It estimates that it can save $200 a year for every 50m stretch of dimmer lighting.
unfortunately the savings may not be sufficient to maintain those bus guides.
I doubt bus companies pay for the bus guides. Rather LTA is more probable. That's how our BUS SUBSIDY are being SPENT, I believe.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I think the transport companies pay for the bus guides.
The guides could be paid for by ad revenue.Originally posted by iamgoondu:I doubt bus companies pay for the bus guides. Rather LTA is more probable. That's how our BUS SUBSIDY are being SPENT, I believe.
Thanks for the clarifications. Do you work with Adshel?Originally posted by Adshel:The "notice boards", (2 off 1mx1m frames at the back of the shelter) are paid for by Adshel. They were part of the DBO contract with LTA. The left hand noticeboard is for Town council to use and the right hand is for LTA Transit Link to place the bus timetable.
Transitlink have commenced the rollout of the timetables island wide. Approx 50% of the 3000 Adshel sites have noticeboards, this number and the locations were determined by LTA prior to tender based on number of services. LTA can be contacted to install more if deemed required. Contrary to some of the posts, LTA do not pay Adshel for the display of posters in the noticeboards. Only the Adpanel 1.8x1.2m display at the end of the shelter is used for advertising.
Hope this helps.
PS. LTA Road Projects and Maintenance look after all bus shelters in Singapore and the control of both Adshel ,JCD and other contractors. The bus operators have no jurastriction or payments to look after the bus shelters or associated street furniture.
Thanks for the clarifications. It's indeed helpful. I'm sorry for those unnecessary speculations.Originally posted by Adshel:The "notice boards", (2 off 1mx1m frames at the back of the shelter) are paid for by Adshel.
