I agree fully with Ms Saw abt the bus / train competition.Originally posted by iamgoondu:CEO of SMRT:
'Why do you have trains? To reduce congestion on the roads. If I'm a bus company, I will also want to ply where the trains are because that's where the most people are. So that will defeat the first purpose,' she says.
'But let's say we let buses compete with trains, then... why not let the buses compete freely? Why demarcate where a bus operator should or should not go. Why say you can compete this way but not that way?'
Even bus companies are aghast of not able to compete freely. Let's have bus companies the free hand to draw out new routes. And bus companies need only PTC approval for services removal.
I agreed with what Ms Saw suggested, allow bus companies to ply along MRT tracks as that's where most people are. Besides that's could be the shortest path too.
One hardly can get a seat if he does not board from Boon Lay or Pasir Ris. As such there are people who would prefer bus rides, especially senior citizens and myself (one who prefer to trade for a seat for an additional 15 minutes ride).
Of course I am not suggesting for a bus service to ply from Boon Lay to Pasir Ris, one would still prefer train ride for longer journey. At least provides connectivity between Clementi and Queenstown via bus along MRT track.
Credibility? Do they even have any?Originally posted by the Bear:well, the PTC is just a rubber-stamping exercise for the transport companies running the "public service"...
supposed to lend some kind of credibility to the public transport system's fares and stuff.. but does anyone actually honestly believe them?
No, first they said that PAC services must have at least 1 ASD. Later when they replied me with SBST, they said it's not necessary.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Credibility? Do they even have any?
Enough harping on Sv. 90 please.Originally posted by th1988:No, first they said that PAC services must have at least 1 ASD. Later when they replied me with SBST, they said it's not necessary.
No offence, but I think SBS and PTC are in cahoots even PTC members are now Sch Principal, Turf Club CEO and ZB editor.
But it's just an example. They are all in cahoots, first they said one and later say twoOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Enough harping on Sv. 90 please.
We all know that already. Thanks for the input.Originally posted by th1988:But it's just an example. They are all in cahoots, first they said one and later say two
and then they say just shut your gap and mind your own business and be contented with what you have now.Originally posted by th1988:But it's just an example. They are all in cahoots, first they said one and later say two
Pls, this was many years ago.Originally posted by service_238:and then they say just shut your gap and mind your own business and be contented with what you have now.
So what? So what if they are under siege from commuters?Originally posted by th1988:Pls, this was many years ago.
Also, if they are irresponsible, someone can just phone the press just like what happened at HGN after 85 was withdrawn. SBST was under commuters fire. Even till now
Punggol got the advantage. Look at PGL, now it has 3, 62, 84, 136 all thanks to that SBS was under fire. So they just gave in to MPs wants.Originally posted by SBS9818A:So what? So what if they are under siege from commuters?
I'm sure our friend won't mind. He'd rather walk than take a packed Sv. 90, right?Originally posted by service_238:People still take SBST everyday. WHY? Its because its cheaper than the taxi and its hard to boycott SBST services because they're found almost everywhere! Unless you wouldnt mind walking from Toa Payoh to Punggol on foot then?
No, I would make sure the stubborn SBS knows that there is overloading.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I'm sure our friend won't mind. He'd rather walk than take a packed Sv. 90, right?
I like the use of the word STUBBORN. Describes someone we all know very well, and that someone happens to be the person whose post I'm quoting.Originally posted by th1988:No, I would make sure the stubborn SBS knows that there is overloading.
Then u climb on top the bus or hang onto the window railings if it's NAC bus. This way, SBST definitely know it's overloading.Originally posted by th1988:No, I would make sure the stubborn SBS knows that there is overloading.
Ya and you can die for all we care.Originally posted by off_service:Then u climb on top the bus or hang onto the window railings if it's NAC bus. This way, SBST definitely know it's overloading.
Maybe, they are just don't care.Originally posted by off_service:Then u climb on top the bus or hang onto the window railings if it's NAC bus. This way, SBST definitely know it's overloading.
Just like we have had enough of your rantings.Originally posted by th1988:Maybe, they are just don't care.
Let's hope that they continue MAINTAINING the fares this yearOriginally posted by iamgoondu:The Public Transport Council (PTC) was established in 1987 as an independent body to approve and regulate bus services and public transport fares.
We seek to :
* create a comprehensive and integrated bus network
* assure quality bus services
* maintain affordable bus and train fares for the public
Perhaps we just neet them, since they promise to deliver the above, to MAINTAIN affordable bus and tran fares for the public.
