Before the buses were retrofitted?Originally posted by freakybuses:Perhaps the olden O405 OACs fitted with the grey with blue striped seats look newer than the current ugly red / green seats. Tibs' O405 must well go retire... some seats got quite a lot of dust.. eww
Yeah, exactly.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Before the buses were retrofitted?
Those Box 0405s are the main fleet for tibs. By Phasing them off, Tibs will have a shortage of buses.As for the DAFs, I agree.Their Engines are so noisy!!!Originally posted by SBS9845X:I hate those box hispano 0405s. The sight of these TIBS 0405s put me off........phase them out. And also those dirty DAF SB220s. I took DAF SB220s and found cockroaches running on the floor, and the bus front looks disgusting, eck. And SBST's MK3. Get them off the roads, they are sickening. Their revving engines are so noisy and sound very like going to die like that. Phase them all out, yeah man!![]()
IMO, that's a great pity. Saabs have a long tradition for powerful turbocharged engines.Originally posted by iveco:Also there are very few CRLs and CRBs around. These vehicles have the most torque as they are associated with Saab motors. The proportion of Scanias is the smallest in comparison the the Mk 2/3/4 B10Ms and O405s.
well at least not many mk3 ply orchard rd.. only those from 16 and sometimes from 7 14 65.....Originally posted by SBS9845X:Actually, i only hate BOX HISPANO 0405s. I love the volgren bodied 0405s. Those with TIB97X? regos. I think TIBS shud buy more volgren 0405s and phase out the bloody boxes! As for the DAFS, their engines are damn noisy, but the same goes too for the MK3s. And dunno why, that dreaded SBS868P actually came to my Sv163 and stayed! It is the dirtiest and oldest MK3 i have ever seen. The chair fabric has been repaired using PATCHES, which look so "beggarish". My gran took the bus today and complained that the air con was not working properly and that the floor was full of **** and dirty garbage. Yeck. Maybe we shud tell SBST and TIBS: "GET THOSE MK3s AND DAF SB220s OFF THE ROADS OF SINGAPORE! THEY ARE A PUBLIC DISGRACE TO TOURISTS COMING HERE!!!!!!"
Argh... SBS 866 U... took it many times... and one word to describe: "S*CKS"!Originally posted by leeJZ:Some MK3s are actually quite nice, at least the refurbished ones, but if you get some like SBS 866 U that often cameos on Sv 2...
I took this jerk on 81... in jan this year.. it sure sucked...Originally posted by freakybuses:Argh... SBS 866 U... took it many times... and one word to describe: "S*CKS"!

Yeah and pls suggest your feedbacks to SBSTOriginally posted by iveco:There is widespread speculation that the Dennis Darts are headed for the scrap heap as they are running wild. What will replace them? More Mk 5s? To keep costs down, get the 18-280s. MAN's manufacturing base is just across the causeway. Iveco's distributor is also located there.

Yes you are right. The MB O405s (Box) make up the main fleet for 12m buses. By phasing them out at one go would meant a replacement of 400 - 500 buses. This would mean business and a tough time for TIBS.Originally posted by cck_190:Those Box 0405s are the main fleet for tibs. Imagine the hell TIBS will go through in 7 years time..Originally posted by off_service:Yes you are right. The MB O405s (Box) make up the main fleet for 12m buses. By phasing them out at one go would meant a replacement of 400 - 500 buses. This would mean business and a tough time for TIBS.
Also, the box O405s are only 10 years old this year. It would be hard for TIBS to phase them out early, especially when the performances are rather good IMO.
DAF buses are actually quiet if in top condition. You can try sitting infront, it's quiet.
Oh...I will be waiting for that. After buying many buses in 1995, in 7 years time, they will have to phase out the first batch of 0405 & some DAFs...they might get bankrupt if they don't plan carefully.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Imagine the hell TIBS will go through in 7 years time..
During the early 90s, both TIBS and SBST needed alot of buses for the growing fleet for the growing demands for new routes or to improve on their services. For SBST, the new buses also meant covering those which were to be phased out,for example the Volvo B57s or MB OF1413s.Originally posted by cck_190:Oh...I will be waiting for that. IMO, bus companies should not buy too many buses at one stage, like the Tibs MB0405 & DAF in 1995. When the time comes for these buses to retire, imagine how many new buses they will have to buy? They'll be goint through hell...
If that's the case, then what will happen if SBS's O405s are phased out?Originally posted by off_service:During the early 90s, both TIBS and SBST needed alot of buses for the growing fleet for the growing demands for new routes or to improve on their services. If you track back to the days between early to late 90s, both companies bought buses in bulk.
Then - SBS700 MB O405s
300++ Volvo B10M MK3s
Approx 100 Volvo Olympian 2 axles
200 Leyland Olympian 3 axles
400++ Volvo Olympian 3 axles
Approx 150 Volvo MK4 DM3500
Approx 300 - 400 Volvo MK4 DM / WA Strider
TIBS400 - 500 MB O405s
Approx 50 DAF SB220
Approx 300 - 400 MB Bendies
50 UMW Dennis Lances
20 UK Dennis Lances
50 Scania L113 WA
It is until recent years that bus companies in Singapore began to buy buses in small numbers.
The MBs were introduced over a few years, if I'm not wrong, between 1990 and 1992. I believe SBST will phase them out batch by batch, with the CAC Mercs the last to be phased off.Originally posted by freakybuses:If that's the case, then what will happen if SBS's O405s are phased out?
It will be quite a mess, but it will be gradual as they can't just bring in a huge number of buses at one shot. Expect to see displacement reaction, ie new buses will be introduced at one depot, the not-so-new-ones will be transferred to those depots with O405s, most likely.Originally posted by freakybuses:If that's the case, then what will happen if SBS's O405s are phased out?

Originally posted by freakybuses:Wait long long. With SBST dependency on Volvo it looks like they'll have Volvos for the rest of their operations.
Maybe SBST will buy these bus models:
