OMG. Dun scrap them. Just do something SBST. Maybe refurbish them? Just look at london. The AEC routemasters are over 50 years old and they are still not scapped. In fact they are going on well.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Well dude,Frankly they should go as they will be scrapped on 2005.
It is quite reliable and practical buses but sadly as the saying goes "Nothing is forever"They had served the commuters well over the past 16+years

The trouble with Singapore is that there is too much red tape. So SBST probably would rather scrap them rather than go through all the hassle of the administrative paperwork to refurbish them for historical purposes.Originally posted by SBS9845X:OMG. The AEC Routemasters will be phased out in phases beginning end-2004, in favour of low-floor double deckers and articulated buses.Originally posted by SBS9845X:OMG. Dun scrap them. yar. that sounds great. They should preserve SBS1696L, SBS1881T, and another duple metsec MK2. Thats enuff. But the AEC routemasters were great....Originally posted by Superbus:The AEC Routemasters will be phased out in phases beginning end-2004, in favour of low-floor double deckers and articulated buses.
Preserving one Alexander PS example and one Duple Metsec example is enough, rather than preserving all of the Mark 2s.
Cheers and warm regards

Well..all buses can only be used for 17 years according to Singapore Laws so expect them to be gone soon..Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Well dude,Frankly they should go as they will be scrapped on 2005.

This may lead to more new buses in all depots. It may also mean that more routes might be cut or frequency is longer if they could not replace the buses in time.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Wonder what SBST will bring in to replace the Mk IIs next year. Over the next 5 years they'll be retiring 1100 buses!
Hope not. Sv. 410 had Mk IIIs before, don't want that happening again.Originally posted by service_238:This may lead to more new buses in all depots. It may also mean that more routes might be cut or frequency is longer if they could not replace the buses in time.
Get ready for 238 to have Striders and Mk3
relly? 410 had MK3s? i dint realise that. Maybe 410 will have LOs instead, next yr. Those super bus LOs suit 410, and they are airconned. Or maybe the non-a/c VOs. That'll be great too. Striders would be good. And sv 112,113,119 will oso have new buses, as they have majority mk2s. sv325,328 too. Mostly hougang services.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Hope not. NAC VOs will be kept in SLBP. Unlikely for them to return to AMDEP.Originally posted by SBS9845X:relly? 410 had MK3s? i dint realise that. Maybe 410 will have LOs instead, next yr.
