DO U THINK WE SHUD KEEP THE MK2s?

Do u think the Mk2s are good buses and deserve to be preserved for a longer time? Maybe they can do a major refurbishing of the buses. What are your opinions?

I personally think that the Mk2s have served us well and i like SBS1696L the best. I love those Alexander bodied ones. Why? Because the back portion after the exit door is longer and it is very cosy to sit behind, especially those converted ones, with the aircon.

Well dude,Frankly they should go as they will be scrapped on 2005.
It is quite reliable and practical buses but sadly as the saying goes "Nothing is forever"
They had served the commuters well over the past 16+years

I would be inclined to believe that SBST will scrap the Mk2s rather than refurbish them as they have reached the end of their lifespans and more likely because the emission standards for diesel vehicles will be changed to Euro-4 by June 2006.

The trouble with Singapore is that there is too much red tape. So SBST probably would rather scrap them rather than go through all the hassle of the administrative paperwork to refurbish them for historical purposes.Originally posted by SBS9845X:OMG. I hope the idea of a transportation museum really comes to reality. I miss all those old buses especially the CAC Leyland Victory. -

Preserving one Alexander PS example and one Duple Metsec example is enough, rather than preserving all of the Mark 2s.

yar. that sounds great. They should preserve SBS1696L, SBS1881T, and another duple metsec MK2. Thats enuff. Wonder what SBST will bring in to replace the Mk IIs next year. Over the next 5 years they'll be retiring 1100 buses!

relly? 410 had MK3s? i dint realise that. Maybe 410 will have LOs instead, next yr. Those super bus LOs suit 410, and they are airconned. Or maybe the non-a/c VOs. That'll be great too. Mark 2s: yup they are cool. like them but not as much as the LO2x. some shd stay while most go.
mark 2s in 1988:
launched in mar 1988. Mark 2s were then dubbed the superbus of SBS although the name was later dropped for unknown reasons. in 1993 SBS used supoerbus to refer to double air-con deckers.
