DPM Tan says Singapore to have train marshals soon

SINGAPORE : Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for Security and Defence Tony Tan has announced that Singapore will be having marshals on MRT trains soon.
He says there is a need for MRT stations and trains to be safeguarded as they are facilities used by many Singaporeans every day.
The recent bomb attacks on Madrid railway stations highlighted the need to adopt a multi-faceted approach to counter terrorism.
Singapore already has air marshals on certain passenger flights.

I'm just as curious as how effective this ruling will be. Next, public buses will have their own marshals. Next will be ferries.
To be safer, let's ask the gah-men to install x-ray machines like those at airports at all MRT station entrances. If they want, can install them at bus interchanges and terminals islandwide. That will be most effective.

SMRT would quote this as an excuse for higher train fare?
Why have a fully automated NEL when we still need a Train Marshal in Train?
How many train Marshal in a train?
What weapon a train marshal will carry?
A train marshal can combat nerve gas like Sarin?
A train marshal can prevent tragedy like that in Japan, Korea and Madrid?
Shouldn't SMRT/NEL staffs at station controls get out of their air-condition office, and make tougher and tighter inspection at the fare gates?
Shouldn't tighter security be enforced at fare gates rather in train carriage?
Perhaps they are kind enough to create jobs for us.
Perhaps just like the disclipline masters in schools, not all may qualified. -
