Not too good?In my honest opinion i feels that the Cummins engine is one of the reliable brand worldwide after Leyland.Originally posted by cck_190:Why facelift?
They look unique and nice, only that their engines are not too good.
Cummins engines are good, they outperform Volvo and Merc engines.Originally posted by cck_190:Why facelift?

Are there lances in Kranji depot? I don't think there is.61 & 67 are KJDEP controlledOriginally posted by off_service:It is a tradition of both TIBS and SBST that buses going to be phased off will be running wild and getting deployed on many services in the same depot (except Leyland Olympian 2 axles).
Lately Lances are seen deployed daily on svs 61 and 67 which both formally got Lances as cameos only.
Or are they undergoing a face lift to look like Hispano?
What are your views on this?
Services 61 & 67 is partly controlled by KJDEP and AMKDEP.Originally posted by cck_190:Are there lances in Kranji depot? I don't think there is.61 & 67 are KJDEP controlled
I used to think the same way too, but Sv. 61 and Sv. 67 are also AMDEP-controlled.Originally posted by cck_190:Are there lances in Kranji depot? I don't think there is.61 & 67 are KJDEP controlled

You have to ask the pros here to answer thatOriginally posted by iveco:Are the Lances so hard to maintain that they are going off? It is said that a Merc costs less to replace than a CRB. Will this mean more Mercs for Tibs? Another thread says that MAN vehicles and parts are cheaper than those of Merc. Why don't SBS and Tibs use MAN products then?
SBS ans TIBS should really consider getting MAN buses. I mean, MAN has a manufacturing centre in Malaysia, right at our doorsteps. Parts, assembly, shipment and maintenance shouldn't be a problem and realatively cheap too.Originally posted by iveco:Are the Lances so hard to maintain that they are going off? I suppose that the Ivecos are also economical, or else DRB-Hicom wouldn't assemble them. We could use some of them after the Mk 2s retire, but have them fitted with WA bodywork. The Intrakota Ivecos look really odd.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:SBS ans TIBS should really consider getting MAN buses. The 18.280 HOCLR is a good citybus (essentially the same as the Causeway Link buses but with a higher power rating). It's turbocharged engine is Euro 3 compliant, has a capacity of only 6871cc with a maximum power output of 280hp (206 kW) @2400 rpm and is able to pump out 1100 Nm of torque @1400-1700 rpm! It comes with a Voith 854.2 gearbox with integrated retarder. SBS & TIBS, what are you waiting for? Get the MAN 18.280 HOCLR!
