Marymount is better. Peminpin and Shunfu aren't accurate.Originally posted by disappear:The Convention Centre Station is obviously Suntec City Station, the MRT station is built next to it for Suntec City...Unless the name of the whole place change in future.....In which case maybe Memorial Park will be ok....
It is not really near enough the Esplanade to call it Esplanade.. The Esplanade itself is almost just as near to City Hall station..
As for Marymount, they should keep to Marymount. Because, Marymount Road is not really long and the station is almost in the middle of the course of the road, plus it is near the junction of Marymount Road and Marymount Lane....I think it sounds ok too... If it is Shunfu, it is only at the Shunfu estate side.. I believe that there is another entrance across the Marymount Road after the junction near the future RJC site. That part of the area i don't think is called Shunfu, right?...

Let me call it Merdeka station then, since it's not advisable to name it after roads and buildings, else it may be called Nicoll station or Beach station or Java station or Concourse station.Originally posted by kenmin:it should be colloquial. Just like Sim Lim, Beauty World etc...
The construction of Expo was funded by MTI.
Convention Centre station and City Hall station are just walking distances apart. I wonder why Convention Centre station is not integrated with City Hall station to become a 3 lines interchange, since a short underground link via Citilink Mall can be build to connect the 2 stations, just like Outram Park NEL/EWL link. Why make Convention Centre station a station on its own?Originally posted by disappear:The Convention Centre Station is obviously Suntec City Station, the MRT station is built next to it for Suntec City...Unless the name of the whole place change in future.....In which case maybe Memorial Park will be ok....

i think the stations r not advisable to be named after long roads only. Short ones are still ok since it is still very localised.Originally posted by tranquilice:Let me call it Merdeka station then, since it's not advisable to name it after roads and buildings, else it may be called Nicoll station or Beach station or Java station or Concourse station.![]()
not enough budget?Originally posted by tranquilice:Convention Centre station and City Hall station are just walking distances apart. I support your statement. The Beach Rd end of Convention Centre Stn and connect to the Raffles City end of City Hall MRT.. I wonder if the garment has thought about this before..Originally posted by tranquilice:Convention Centre station and City Hall station are just walking distances apart. Only the government will know.Originally posted by kenmin:not enough budget?
Yes. They are so close together, and a entrance/exit to Convention Centre station can be constructed at Citilink Mall which is already linked to City Hall station.Originally posted by service_238:I support your statement. URA would probably tender the construction of the linkway to commercial entity, and the commercial entity get to own those shops in the new linkway.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes. I guess they have thought about it before.![]()
However, nothing was mentioned about the construction of this linkway connecting Convention Centre station to Citilink Mall/City Hall station. So I guess to get from Convention Centre station to City Hall station and vice-versa, one has to get out of the station to ground surface before entering the other.Originally posted by iamgoondu:URA would probably tender the construction of the linkway to commercial entity, and the commercial entity get to own those shops in the new linkway.
In this way LTA get to save on CCL budget.
Dont forget one end of citylink mall is closed... maybe the link can be thereOriginally posted by tranquilice:However, nothing was mentioned about the construction of this linkway connecting Convention Centre station to Citilink Mall/City Hall station. tat is one of the entrances of CVC CCL Stn i suppose.. dun think it is connected to CTH MRT Stn..Originally posted by service_238:Dont forget one end of citylink mall is closed... maybe the link can be there
u mean the link to suntec? closed for construction of the MRT station only.Originally posted by service_238:Dont forget one end of citylink mall is closed... maybe the link can be there

The link is meant to go to Suntec only. Not sure if it can accomodate link to CCL.Originally posted by service_238:Dont forget one end of citylink mall is closed... maybe the link can be there
I guess that's the link to Suntec City and not the CCL MRT station.Originally posted by service_238:Dont forget one end of citylink mall is closed... maybe the link can be there
Citilink Mall is connected to City Hall station, however not Convention Centre station.Originally posted by ^tamago^:tat is one of the entrances of CVC CCL Stn i suppose.. dun think it is connected to CTH MRT Stn..
Wouldn't this waste time for passengers from the west? This will mean taking the NSL train up to Dhoby Ghaut and then take the CCL train down again.Originally posted by kenmin:u mean the link to suntec? closed for construction of the MRT station only.
1 way w/o incurring extra cost to construct the 300m+ link is to make the transfer like the buses. ie give 20min (should b more than enough) for those transferring between the 2 stations to exit one and enter the other. Those who wanna jostle with the shopping crowd may choose this option.
if not, make transfer to NSL at CTH and then transfer to CCL at DBG.
It is indeed wasting time. so perhaps they should do what kenmin mentioned......if people exit the fare gates from either station to go to the other, within a given time they should count it as one single trip.Originally posted by tranquilice:Wouldn't this waste time for passengers from the west? Walking via Citilink Mall to get from City Hall station to Convention Centre station is faster than taking a NSL train up to Dhoby Ghaut and taking a CCL train down again. Time and money is wasted on 2 train rides which lines run paraell to one another.Originally posted by disappear:It is indeed wasting time. so perhaps they should do what kenmin mentioned......if people exit the fare gates from either station to go to the other, within a given time they should count it as one single trip.
previously before circle line started construction, the end of citylink mall led to the outside of suntec city. now that there is convention centre station, it will be stupid if the citylink mall doesn't link to one entrance/exit of convention centre station instead, after it is ready.
to take the train to city hall, cross the platform, take to dhoby ghaut and walk a while to the circle line platform is still a shorter walking distance than walking the whole length of citylink mall to reach convention centre station. time saved by walking via citylink mall should be at most a few minutes? unless a better solution can be thought of, guess we have to compromise..
that's why i suggested the alternative, for those who prefer to walk and walk fast.Originally posted by tranquilice:Wouldn't this waste time for passengers from the west? This will mean taking the NSL train up to Dhoby Ghaut and then take the CCL train down again.
It will be better to walk underground than under the sun.Originally posted by kenmin:that's why i suggested the alternative, for those who prefer to walk and walk fast.

I mean if Convention Centre station and Citilink Mall is not connected, one still has to get out of the station to enter the other.Originally posted by kenmin:isn't there an underground link already available??
