There is only one entrance to ECP (Changi Airport), that is the slip road from Ophir Road. Service 36 entered this slip road from Republic Boulevard.Originally posted by ^tamago^:updated the list..
as for the rochor rd slip rd, if u've boarded svc 36, the single-deck buses seem to have a hard time trying to climb up the head, so i thought it's really a bad idea to get a double-decker to do the climb.. did svc 8 leyland atlanteans climb up from republic boulevard or beach rd?
O405's on 390 climbed up just find, as far as I can remember. Though the Scania N113 were just about as breathless as the MKIVs.Originally posted by SBS9818A:OH yes, the Mk IVs get breathless climbing up that incline.
no, cos Svc 36 buses turn into Rochor Rd from Republic Boulevard, they often do not have enough momentum and speed to 'cheong' up the slope.. if the Svc 8 Atlanteans came into Rochor Rd way back from Beach Rd, they may have enough momentum to do the climb..Originally posted by Superbus:There is only one entrance to ECP (Changi Airport), that is the slip road from Ophir Road. Scania N113CRBs have more torque than any of those two buses! I find it astonishing.Originally posted by Yusry:O405's on 390 climbed up just find, as far as I can remember. Though the Scania N113 were just about as breathless as the MKIVs.
The Scania may have more torque and may win the 1/4 mile drag race, but the transmission system may not be up to the mark to climb gradients.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Scania N113CRBs have more torque than any of those two buses! I find it astonishing.
That's true. But now with the Voiths, the Scanias have this extra "oomph" about it.Originally posted by Yusry:The Scania may have more torque and may win the 1/4 mile drag race, but the transmission system may not be up to the mark to climb gradients.
I find MB's hub reduction system very advance and gives the bus the extra push.
Unfortunately, Scanias are not being deployed on service 36, so we may never find out their true climbing power.Originally posted by SBS9818A:That's true. But now with the Voiths, the Scanias have this extra "oomph" about it.
Ophir Rd towards Changi Airport.Originally posted by leeJZ:Which entrance are you guys refering to? The one on Ophir Rd? Towards Changi Airport or AYE?
Scanias used to be deployed on service 36. I board SBS 0035B on this service before.Originally posted by Yusry:Unfortunately, Scanias are not being deployed on service 36, so we may never find out their true climbing power.![]()
I think it's more of a cameo basis?Originally posted by tranquilice:Scanias used to be deployed on service 36. I board SBS 0035B on this service before.
When service 16E was re-numbered to service 36, if I remember correctly, there was no changes in fleet, service 36 (Bt Merah - Changi Airport peak hours service) continued to use mainly the 9xx rego Mk4.Originally posted by off_service:I think it's more of a cameo basis?
When service 16E became service 36 did Scanias operated on permanent basis?
And how was the climbing power?Originally posted by tranquilice:Scanias used to be deployed on service 36. I board SBS 0035B on this service before.
N113CRBs occasionally make appearances on Sv. 36, but that is damn rare.Originally posted by Yusry:Unfortunately, Scanias are not being deployed on service 36, so we may never find out their true climbing power.![]()
Did 390 ever use MB O405s?Originally posted by Yusry:O405's on 390 climbed up just find, as far as I can remember. Though the Scania N113 were just about as breathless as the MKIVs.
Think there should be no major problems for double-decks along Depot Rd.Originally posted by iveco:Did 390 ever use MB O405s?
BTW, is Depot Rd suitable for VOs?
I havent been to Depot Road for a long long time. I remember the last time I went was when I enlisted for NS. Haha. (OOT) Anyway, I believe there are low-lying trees along Depot Road. Anyone to confirm?Originally posted by SBS9818A:Think there should be no major problems for double-decks along Depot Rd.
Can't remember, but trees there are comparable to Henderson Rd.Originally posted by delonchew:I havent been to Depot Road for a long long time. I remember the last time I went was when I enlisted for NS. Haha. (OOT) Anyway, I believe there are low-lying trees along Depot Road. Anyone to confirm?
Yes. The interior of an N113 and an O405 is very different and so I would remember. If you want, I can try to find the bus ticket.Originally posted by iveco:Did 390 ever use MB O405s?

I would say better than Mk4.Originally posted by Yusry:And how was the climbing power?
I believe there's a height limit there.Originally posted by S K:wonders 39 no dbl decker beacuse of two resons first and for most not much ridership? secondly hight litmit @ yishun interchange is too low?
I was wondering if Svc 153 could cover the route of Feeder 274 but the former has VOs on the fleet.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Can't remember, but trees there are comparable to Henderson Rd.
