Better to reroute Sv 153, I just took it from Toa Payoh - Bukit Merah and demand was very low. Zoomed past most of the bus stops and when we got to BTM Int, only three people on the upper deck (including me) and ZERO on the lower deck, this being a VO. Only took about 20 min to complete the ride...is the main demand from this service from Hougang - Toa Payoh?

U missed the demands of it and dont forget today's a saturday.
True, the main demand is from HGN to TPY MRT while the rest of the journey is rather average. I guess your driver is ahead of the timesheet.
It takes minimum of 15 min from HGN to TPY MRT and max of 25 min.
It takes an average of 25 min from TPY to Queensway. so eh.. u know how things are shaping out la... lolz... -

From Bukit Merah to Toa Payoh or vice-versa, service 153 is faster compared to service 139. From Bukit Merah to Hougang Central or vice-versa, service 153 is faster compared to service 132. If service 153 is to merge with service 274, service 153 will ply Henderson Rd, Depot Rd and Alexandra Rd before continuing with current route to Hougang Central. However, Depot Rd seems impossible for a DD to ply due to the trees there, which may mean service 153 may become a SD-only service.
I have this suggestion, since service 51 and service 186 duplicate route between Queenstown (C'wealth Ave) and Havelock Rd/Upp Cross St, service 186 can be amended via the following route:
St. Michael's terminal, roads in St. Michael's, Balestier Rd, Thomson Rd [Express], Whitley Rd, Bt Timah Rd, Farrer Rd, Queensway, C'wealth Ave, Alexandra Rd, Depot Rd, Henderson Rd, Bt Merah Central [Express] and Bt Merah interchange.
Between Balestier Rd and Shenton Way, there is service 130. Between Whitley Rd and Shenton Way, there are services 605 and 700. Between Queenstown and Shenton Way, there is service 970.
