Wearing seat belts on buses?

Do you think it is a good idea to wear seat belts on buses? Esp. those sitting on the upper deck first row passengers.

in fact there are seat belts on most travel buses.
i guess the cost benefit ratio does not justify the need for seatbelts. buses being alot more massive and hence stable, and the likelihood of buses speeding, means the likelihood of passengers getting hurt while taking a bus ride is smaller than in cars. -

The transport minister already made his point clear that it is not feasible.
Also, if this is the case, some safety gadgets or features have to be developed to protect standees. I can also guarantee no one's gonna belt up if he/she is taking for one stop only. -

Yup, sometimes, esp if the buses are going very fast. Even if they went through the expense of having seat belts on the buses. I doubt that they would be used much. And they would probably become the targets of vandals.

It's a good idea to have seat belts in the front row in the upper saloon, especially on buses with extra large windscreens like the Neoplan Centroliner.

It may be good, but who is making the checks that passenger put on their seatbelts?
Like those seatbelts in the back seats of cars, if there is no law enforcement, do you think passengers will still put on those seat belts even if seat belts provided?
I can't imagine having the traffic police making their checks in a double decker bus.
Having seat belts would definitely just increase the operational costs of bus companies.
Heard what TIBS said about the EURO4 standard, it could increase their operational cost by 30%! And they are required to implement them by 2006.
Will TIBS raise bus fare this year in anticipation of EURO4 in 2006? -

I would feel that they didn't enforce seat belts previously, was they might not be able to enforce that rule effectively on buses. -
should hv seat belts, so those kids wont jump here jump there kick here kick there...

It should be an initiative by the transport companies. KMB, HK is doing precisely that on their Neoplan Centroliners, not every double deck bus. -

the only seat which shld have seat belts is the back middle seat. Imagine the bus skid... the guy sitting there will bound to fall... worse still if the guy is a child... fly off his seat and crash into the windscreen and mati...

IMO, the seats that should get seat belts are the front row ones on DDs and middle seats.
