  It was a FAC loop service between Hougang (South) interchange and Tomlinson Rd, duplicating service 111. Used ND U31SCN. Withdrawn in 1990.

  144 (Toa Payoh - C'wealth Ave) was removed in 1983 or 84, which was just as well because there are 2 other services (147 and 14 that also plied between these 2 points. Besides, there were alternative services from Toa Payoh which plied on 144's route.

  I think SBS see that people taking 149 to Airport from Kallang/Bendemeer/Toa Payoh is very low. Hence they merge it with SBS31 to become SBST31. SBS16 covers the lost part as there's demand from Old Airport Rd to CGA. not forgetting the city area as well
