My sentiments exactly. I will hate to see the day when they stop the operations of the monorail and start demolishing the stations and tracks.Originally posted by Superbus:As much as I welcome the construction of the Sentosa Express, I would also be very sad to see the Sentosa Monorail go. Instead I would prefer if SDC upgrade the existing system in par with today's technology.
Cheers and warm regards
At first I thought they would upgrade the current monorail system into something like that of Jurong Bird Park (which is aircondition). I'm quite surprised and devastated to hear that Sentosa Express will replace the monorail completely.Originally posted by delonchew:My sentiments exactly. and why must the monorail be removed? why can't the LRT just link to the route of monorail?!?!Originally posted by off_service:At first I thought they would upgrade the current monorail system into something like that of Jurong Bird Park (which is aircondition). The current monorail system is one "cannot be missed" attraction on Sentosa now which will be missed by us.
With this, would they retain the HBF - VAC bus service?Originally posted by tranquilice:
Most probably the mentioned bus service will not be retained, as seen from the case of Tiong Bahru - Sentosa and Orchard - Sentosa services.Originally posted by SBS9818A:With this, would they retain the HBF - VAC bus service?
Then it'd be tough to get on the B7R coaches!Originally posted by tranquilice:Most probably the mentioned bus service will not be retained, as seen from the case of Tiong Bahru - Sentosa and Orchard - Sentosa services.

Hope they can be deployed on internal services.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Then it'd be tough to get on the B7R coaches!
Fort Siloso station? You mean a LRT station at Fort Siloso? But according to plan, LRT will not go there.Originally posted by AdAptAliS:Closing down of Sentosa monorail would be pretty sad. It had already become part of sentosa, one of the attractions. Tourist can even take the monorail just for the sake of sight-seeing around the whole loop. They really should just keep it running.
They're building a Fort Siloso station, when will that be opened? And if they are closing the monorail in 2006, why still build another station at Fort Siloso? I don't understand what they're thinking of.
Oh great. Business at the Fort Siloso now must be very bad.Originally posted by tranquilice:Fort Siloso station? You mean a LRT station at Fort Siloso? But according to plan, LRT will not go there.
Fort Siloso monorail station has already been closed, tram service between Fort Siloso and Underwater World has been terminated. People going to Fort Siloso now has to walk there from Underwater World.
Isn't Fort Siloso under major renovation or something?Originally posted by tranquilice:Fort Siloso station? You mean a LRT station at Fort Siloso? But according to plan, LRT will not go there.

Agreed. The monorail station there is no longer in use and tram service to and fro Underwater World was cancelled, all these make it inconvenience for tourists to get to and fro Fort Siloso.Originally posted by off_service:Oh great. Business at the Fort Siloso now must be very bad.
I missed out going pass Fort Siloso on monorail when I was in Sentosa a few days ago, so didn't know what's the construction is all about.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Isn't Fort Siloso under major renovation or something?
Hmm, business bad? And I thought it was undergoing major renovation.Originally posted by tranquilice:Agreed. The monorail station there is no longer in use and tram service to and fro Underwater World was cancelled, all these make it inconvenience for tourists to get to and fro Fort Siloso.
business is not bad. Fort siloso is part of the package of revamping sentosa. Since FS (not off_service, fort silosoOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Hmm, business bad? And I thought it was undergoing major renovation.
What do you mean certain parts can still be accessed? Isn't it closed currently? Which parts can still be accessed?Originally posted by service_238:business is not bad. However, certain parts of FS can still be accessed.
Chalet or youth hostel?Originally posted by freakybuses:Now Sentosa wasn't as fun as it was in 1990s... whereby got fantasy island... missed that so much. Last went there was 2001 for a 3D2N camp... the place become campsite... with AC dorms.
The road leading to FS is accessible.. while the entire station is closed... the toilet at FS is accessible tooOriginally posted by tranquilice:What do you mean certain parts can still be accessed? Isn't it closed currently? Which parts can still be accessed?
