I mean they should make it a Hougang Ctrl - Tampines service. Then introduce maybe a Tampines - Changi Airport loop service. If you amend Sv 24 to Pasir Ris, maybe a Eunos - Changi Airport loop service would do.Originally posted by service_238:Service 27 used to terminate at Tampines...
It started off as Pasir Ris - CGA,
then TAM - CGA,
then SEK - CGA,
and finally HGN - CGA...
I hope it wont be SGN - CGA in the future...

Why would Sv 17 get the cut? Sv 17 is a very valuable service, its the only service that serves Bedok North Ave 4 and parts of Bedok North Rd, hence the high capacity and thus the ADDs deployed on it.Originally posted by freakybuses:24 maintained the route due to several reasons:
1The only oldest and original route of CGA.
2Extending it to Pasir Ris means 17 may get the cut
3Still remember why 34 got the cut? Either option has to be made. 24 to become AMK - Bedok (which means it will be as pampered as 25 but not more pax) or 34 to be "killed"

Service 24 serve parts of Changi Airport not served by MRT, for example terminal 1 and SATS flight kitchen.Originally posted by freakybuses:24 maintained the route due to several reasons:

I, as a Toa Payoh boy for my whole life, do not agree that I've get a good interchange. Its too small(for buses), its aircon seems like no aircon(better get a colder one). In short, it is not well planned. I prefer the old Toa Payoh interchange that existed from 1987 to 1998. Its so spacious, it has lots of parking space.Originally posted by leeJZ:Toa Payoh folks are lucky. They get the best interchange in the whole of SingaporeExcellent design plus aircon. Maybe they should build a TPY Int replica to replace those small plus bendy/DD-incapable basements at the airport?
Back to the topic, Sv 83 must be generating a lot of cash. Any Sv 83 bus I spotted, capacity ranged from 70% up to about 90%. Sv 27 must be another cashcow...probably SBS would rather put the Tridents on it than on Sv 89, demand to Tampines is stronger than to Pasir Ris from Hougang/Sengkang.
He means it get the cut from Pasir Ris to Tampines. The following might be harsh: This is good also because we central people can get those "stolen" VO3x back (all Service 17 Superbuses were central's if I did not forget the regos), that means 56 can get its only VO3x back, 88 and 166 can get back some VO3xs to replace those O405 and LO3x which replaced them. It can also share the load of 70. (esp. during rush hours). Probably also need to get back most of those VO3x that is now on 81(ex-centals also)Originally posted by leeJZ:Why would Sv 17 get the cut? Sv. 17 has 9668R and 9631X, ex Central VO3X. Not too sure about 9518R though.Originally posted by Scania:He means it get the cut from Pasir Ris to Tampines. Too much parking space... I prefer the current one although hopefully a couple or 2 more parking lots can be added.Originally posted by Scania:I, as a Toa Payoh boy for my whole life, do not agree that I've get a good interchange. The Toa Payoh planners think that 17 services is ENOUGH for TPY... its actually way enough if u ask me... unlike places like Bishan Serangoon or even Ang Mo Kio.. Toa payoh is vv fortunate already.Originally posted by leeJZ:I agree that Toa Payoh planners should have built more berths for expansion, but its still a great interchange
Sv 17 & 291 should trade in their VO fleets for LOs. Sv 81 ideally should have a 100% MK4 perm fleet, with VO doing swing schedule during morning peak. Maybe the VOs of Sv 291 & 81 can go to Sv 22 & Sv 72, both having large numbers of LOs.
I agree... TPY has way enough svcs to serve residents.Originally posted by service_238:The Toa Payoh planners think that 17 services is ENOUGH for TPY... its actually way enough if u ask me... unlike places like Bishan Serangoon or even Ang Mo Kio.. Toa payoh is vv fortunate already.
leejz: try service 81's departure from TAM at 0705. check the loading in PSR to see whether it really needs DDs anot..![]()

Ang Mo Kio: 73 88 159 or MRT
Bishan: 88 or MRT
Yishun: Go Jln TPY take 857 or by MRT
Woodlands: 966 from Jln TPY or MRT
Choa Chu Kang: 985 from Jln TPY or MRT

Jurong East: 143 157 or MRT
Boon Lay: 157 or MRT

Buona Vista/C'wealth Area: 145 or MRT
East Coast: 966 from Jln TPY or 155
Hougang: 88 159
Sengkang: 88 159
Despite AMK having many links, there are still flaws.
-No bus svc to North-west and far west. Eg. Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Boon Lay and many parts of Bukit Batok.
-Pasir Ris... only by 88 and has to travel through Hougang and Sengkang to get there.
I will still pity Serangoon more... any connections to city from int? only 100 105.
Bishan residents can get to either TPY or AMK within 10 mins. So not as much probs as Serangoon.

Did i miss out anything?
I have the ticket of 9631X on 56.Originally posted by leeJZ:VO as a cameo basis during morning peak (eg Sv 1is enough...maybe can borrow from Sv 8...its ultra-high frequency during morning peak is good enough to sustain loads even with MK4s & O405s only...can see 3 Sv 8 buses on Tampines Ave 7 alone during morning peak
Rest of the times Sv 81 is barely full, at most school release hours but you can cram everyone in an MK4.
Serangoon residents can go up to Hougang or take a short hop to Toa Payoh via Sv 105 or Sv 153 for a wider range of services. And theres always the NELPlus Serangoon Int is at the southern tip of the town, most of the residents live at the north.
9631X cameos around quite a lot, took it on Sv 2.

and 56 and 88 aint pamered, the D10A VO3x's on 88 from the range 9423E to 9642P isn't well maintained enough, especially their inteiror, while the only TD102KF VO3x (9276M, infact it is the only remainign 1st batch VO3x in amdep/bram) has some ZF gearbox problems. 56 aint pampered, you see it has 3 merz with merz gearbox and 2 merz with Voith gearbox and the others are 1 semi-pernament LO3x and 4 unpowerful B10TLs(which is slower than the LO3x anbd of course slower than 9631X). BTW, 9631X was the last VO3x without any ad to get repainted, I know it because I used to see it everyday while returning home from school
Doesnt SBS' favorite services get VSOs?Originally posted by Scania:I have the ticket of 9631X on 56.

Quite yes. but I hate those 9.6 liter engined buses, Volvo buses are simply 9.6 liters and below (besides the B12BLE for now)Originally posted by leeJZ:Doesnt SBS' favorite services get VSOs?
I'm sure if 190 is still under SBS, it would get a full fleet of VSOs and Dennis TridentsOriginally posted by leeJZ:Doesnt SBS' favorite services get VSOs?
9631X was actually repainted in late 2002, even Sv. 88 96xx buses were repainted earlier!Originally posted by Scania:I have the ticket of 9631X on 56.

Nowdays buses i've notices had small displacement but with more or equal horsepower and torque compared with the previous big displacement buses.Originally posted by Scania:Quite yes. but I hate those 9.6 liter engined buses, Volvo buses are simply 9.6 liters and below (besides the B12BLE for now)
