I remember the L113s, but didn't it operate Lances too?Originally posted by off_service:Small history lesson on sv. 59:
Originally operated as a Bishan - Jalan Kayu service. It was later amended to operate between Ang Mo Kio and Jalan Kayu. It became a fully aircon service in 1995. Tibs took over sv 59 in the same year, with Scania L113s as the main fleet.
In 1997, service 59 was extended to Sengkang, renumbered as service 866. The service was given back to SBST after Tibs lost the tender of NEL in 1999. It was then renumbered to service 86.
The Lances came in only after it was renumbered service 866.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I remember the L113s, but didn't it operate Lances too?
Yes, except for slight route difference in Sengkang. Service 860 plied one-directional along Punggol Rd, Compassvale Dr and Compassvale Rd towards then Sengkang terminal. Towards Hougang St 21, it plied one-directional along Compassvale Rd and continued via Sengkang East Way.Originally posted by Yusry:Isn't the route of 860 same as 119?
Yes, you are correct. It was later taken over by SBST and re-numbered service 85.Originally posted by off_service:If I did not remembered wrongly, service 860 was extended to World Trade Centre Terminal and renumbered as service 865.
Did service 865 use any Bendies back then?
Partly because SK Terminal was on the roadside?Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes, except for slight route difference in Sengkang. Correction: Service 59 was extended to Sengkang on Sunday 21 Feb 1999 and re-numbered service 866 on the same day.Originally posted by off_service:Small history lesson on sv. 59:

Yes, when Sengkang terminal first started in June 1998, it was a roadside terminal along Compassvale Rd, then in July 1999, SBST took over the operation in Sengkang and the terminal was re-located to the roadside of Sengkang East Way. Sengkang East Way (towards Sengkang East Rd, after Compassvale Rd) was a dead end back then, as the rest of the road was closed to facilitate NEL construction. Buses then park on both sides of Sengkang East Way. When the temporary interchange was opened, all services were then re-located there.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Partly because SK Terminal was on the roadside?
I remember seeing NAC Scanias on the service.Originally posted by tranquilice:Correction: Service 59 was extended to Sengkang on Sunday 21 Feb 1999 and re-numbered service 866 on the same day.
One week later, on Sunday 28 Feb 1999, service 88 (started as PAC service, became FAC service in May 1999) was introduced to ply Sengkang, and that was the only SBST service in Sengkang back then.
You mean service 88? Yes, they were deployed in its early days.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I remember seeing NAC Scanias on the service.
I don't remember much. It opened in 1988 or 1989, when the MRT went there.Originally posted by cck_190:Can you tell me the history of Choa Chu Kang Interchange?![]()
