perhaps it was redundant?Originally posted by foxtrot1985:Can I ask how does the bus with the door on the right hand side operate? As in how do the passengers get up when the bus arrives in the bus bay?
that was my nursery days... when I was born the fare was only 15c.Originally posted by GrimR:All i remember was that it was 25 cent to board feeder bus last time and now it's like 63 cents..Oh ya the bus svc was 801.Now is 811
There has been no convincing reason to the purpose of the offside doors. Only a few buses had these doors. Most of them had the normal emergency doors at the same position as these powered doors.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:Can I ask how does the bus with the door on the right hand side operate? Oh....this practise was still present thru 2002. Ang Mo Kio also had mobile validators and coin boxes all along, the rego given as 9000/9001. Tampines is 4000 if im not wrong, and Yishun is either 0041 or 0042. Yishun one is normally deployed from 1700 hrs at the berth with svc 800, 804 and 806, though this privilege is normally given to svc 806 cos of the ultra high load. When bendys came along, the second door was used. It stopped when the ezlink system was fully in use, and then the second door was open but the ezlink reader was set to entrance. However, it was abandoned as drivers forget to switch it back, resulting in many pax being deducted twice for the rides. When the queue is very long, all 3 doors can be opened at once and it happened a few times.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Nissan Civilian,If i'm not wrong it doesn't use diesel right?Or some sort of hybrid
One more thing i've used to see in the late 80s and early 90s where bus inspectors will push a coin-box trolley whenever there are crowded pax and he will told the driver to open the rear door to alight(Feeder svs usually).I always notice this scenario at the old Jurong Interchange![]()
Wonder why they used powered doors for emergency exit. Would be quite tough to open in emergencies!Originally posted by Yusry:There has been no convincing reason to the purpose of the offside doors. Those are not emergency doors and were never meant to be one.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Wonder why they used powered doors for emergency exit. Would be quite tough to open in emergencies!
It seems no one gives the lo' down of these 4 buses. So, here I go.Originally posted by freakybuses:Still remembered that there were types of operations on buses... OMOs, Hybrids... any of you still got any memories of the good old days? Feel free to post pics here...
Last time, 25c was what students pay on trunk services. I remember feeder services cost only 15c and I found that in 1979 it cost 10c. There were also other OMO services with fares ranging from 30c - 80c.Originally posted by GrimR:All i remember was that it was 25 cent to board feeder bus last time and now it's like 63 cents..Oh ya the bus svc was 801.Now is 811
So in other words people had to walk one big round just to get up the bus?Originally posted by Yusry:There has been no convincing reason to the purpose of the offside doors. Only a few buses had these doors. Most of them had the normal emergency doors at the same position as these powered doors.
Errr no....... there are 3 sets of doors. They still board from the 2 normal doors.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:So in other words people had to walk one big round just to get up the bus?
No, they board normally from the left.Originally posted by foxtrot1985:So in other words people had to walk one big round just to get up the bus?
perhaps my mistake...Originally posted by foxtrot1985:Oh I thought there was only 1 door since the caption mentioned "the door".![]()
