Any pix?Originally posted by Superbus:I've seen a new model of the Toyota midibus which can carry approximately ±30 pax. The bus is considerably bigger than the normal 20-seater. Still fitted with a single door, it is bigger and placed ahead of the front axle, unlike the normal 20-seater where the door is located after the front axle. I can safely say that the new bus is the Dart of the Orient.

825 had a nissan civilian fitted with electrical engihnes b4, but was withdrawn from svc in '99 and gone in 2000. Guess its too uneconomical to operate that bus.
I'm afraid I don't have it. I saw the bus during an episode of Japan Hour, aired around 2 weeks ago.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Any pix?

You mean the CAC Soon Chow bus I took a pic of recently? That bus isn't ex-SBS, although the body could have been ex-SBS. I am not ruling out that the bus could be a Mercedes Benz OFxxxx, although it could also be a TATA bus.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Nvm,About the Merc Soon Chow(ex-sbs),I saw it too last 2 months parking illegally besides my work place. It is grey in color.
My uncle, being a school bus driver, used to OWN a Mercedes OF1417 with soon chow body. Our relatives usually took that bus to the CCK cemetery for qing ming....we parked in the LCK road and walk in. Best man, that bus.....but then my uncle find it too old then go scrap it, also got no aircon, very hot. Then he bought an aircon bus....it was a Nissan UD duno what...now we can have a/c bus to cemetery when its qing ming....Originally posted by Superbus:You mean the CAC Soon Chow bus I took a pic of recently? PH 1705L is actually a 1991-registered OH1318 using a salvaged OF1417 body.Originally posted by Superbus:You mean the CAC Soon Chow bus I took a pic of recently? Please, bus companies strive for commonality in types to lower maintainance costs. Even SBST have probs with their Darts, and the main reason for buying them in the first place is due to the routes. Dun tell me svc 92 during peak hour is low demand?!Originally posted by BlessingSatan:I'm talking about low pax service lah friend,Not about the tight roads.![]()
TATA bus is manufatured by the very huge iron and steel conglomerate in India. They hold a near monopoly of India's iron and steel heavy industries by sales, as well as heavy vehicles like lorries and buses.Originally posted by SBS9845X:Whats TATA by the way?

Bus companies will just dump a 12m bus on low demand routes and decrease the freq a lot. If its not viable, they just scrap it. It costs less to print scrapping notices than to buy midi buses for these routes.![]()
There is a bit of connection for 33 due to the joo chiat roads, and 284 due to the U-turn. Expect more on BB svcs, as i said, its a tradition for both companies to parade buses before they go off so it may be a probable reason. Maybe they want the public to know they got such buses.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:[quote]Originally posted by TIB1186Z:

That's the reason why they get MK2/3s and 92A get Darts nowdays huh?
Also i'm curious why they depolyed Darts on svs like 33,156,285,284 and latest 198?Narrow routes,Low demands?Going off soon??
My main thinking is that they see no need for them, apart from other economical factorsOriginally posted by BlessingSatan:Would'nt it be better if TIBS have some Midibuses in their fleets?Probably 6 buses is enough..Anyway just wandering only no serious things.
No point, having such a small fleet defeats the purpose. Unless there is at least 50 such buses.Originally posted by BlessingSatan:Would'nt it be better if TIBS have some Midibuses in their fleets?Probably 6 buses is enough..Anyway just wandering only no serious things.
