Toa Payoh has quite a number of route duplication along Lor 4 and 6. Same for Bukit Timah Rd - Jln Jurong Kechil - Bt Batok.

svc 163 and 371. exactly the same route from SK int to SK West Ave/Jln Kayu. only diff is 163 charges 83 cents for that stretch while 371 is a flat 63 cents. if only SKLRT's west loop is in operation...

Route duplication is not so rampant now as compared to 20 years ago. Back then, there are lotsa lotsa services which duplicate each other 80% of the way.

How's about 77/106 from Holland V to Suntec? 7/77/106 from Holland V to Bras Basah Road? The duplicated route constitutes 60% of 77 and 106.

As for Svc 77, it is duplicated by 174 from Bt Batok Ctr to the junction of East Ave 3 and 6; and the Jln Jurong Kecil/Toh Tuck Road intersection to the corner of Dunearn Rd and Sixth Ave. The former covers Toh Tuck Rd, but the latter runs parallel with 61, 66, 157 along Bt Batok East Ave 3 and 6. Svc 985, meanwhile, provides for residents of Bt Batok East Ave 2. Svc 77 is then practically duplicated by Svc 106 until Suntec City.
I submitted a three-pronged plan to TIBS for Svcs 75, 77 and 970 but they haven't replied. This plan helps reduce duplication along the Holland and Orchard corridors. Refer to my posting on 'Fantasy Bus Routes' concerning this suggestion. -
