Services that (do not) deserve DDs

Deserve but do not have:
Sv 19 - Packed to the brim during morning peak. Quite popular with residents along Tampines Ave 7 / Loyang Ave as it is the most direct link to Tampines Int. Plus its frequency beats Sv 81 anytime. Sometimes loads are even better than Sv 9.
Sv 24 - Loads are good even though its off peak, they should cut it from the airport so they can put ADDs on it. Maybe Ang Mo Kio - Pasir Ris. Even if they do not cut it, it deserves better buses than O405s only.
Sv 27 - Excellent loads the whole day especially from Tampines - Sengkang, they should really cut it Hougang Ctrl - Tampines so they can put ADDs on it.
Sv 36 - Really needs ADDs, but too bad because of Changi Airport. They should make a TPY II at the airport!
Sv 38 - It gets overloaded when sec school lets out, esp on Fridays when both pri & sec are released at the same time. Other services never get overloaded.
Sv 131 - Popular among Telok Blangah residents, St Michael's residents, and the people at Owen/Rangoon/Kent Rds...but got height restriction at Henderson Rd?

Sv 89 - Does not deserve Tridents, and loading does not shoot up too much, plus theres already Sv 88 from the Sengkang - Pasir Ris market (where it makes most of its $$$).
Sv 165 - Heard that loading is not too good. -

Sv 24: I guess AMDEP dont see the need to put some mk5s or scanias on it.. It has been merz infested for a super long time already. SBST wont allow AMK - PSR route. I can see that u wish to combine 24 and 17

Sv 36: real demand is Marine Parade - City. maybe SWT might work...

Svc 89: u should see a filled Trident during peak hours. Demand is from Pasir Ris (or maybe Changi Village) to Sengkang. I've seen high demands @0710 hrs in PSR towards CACC. most of the pax should be working there.
Svc 165: agree with u... i've never seen a crowded VO before. Does anyone know where's the actual demand of this service? Upp Thomson Rd? -
36 with a DD doesnt look and feel good leh.. just like svc 76 getting DDs.. like feel funny leh... a DD passing through Suntec City...

Before 132 was amended to Hougang Ctrl, many AMK ppl take 165 to HG Ctrl when they cant wait for 74. But way before 165 was extended to HG Ctrl from AMK, it was rather packed in O405s and I think that it's a wrong choice to extend 165 to Hougang and full control by HGDEP (sort of bad luck charm).Originally posted by service_238:Just some comments on your service analysis.. just my honest opinion. Service 27 deserves DD because of the terrible load especially from Sengkang to Tampines but I guess SBST tried to make up for the inability to use DDs on the service by increasing the frequency of the service.
Like what service_238 said, the main load of 36 does not come from Airport. I have observed over time that the main load starts from Marine Parade, right after it exits ECP.
Whether 89 deserves Tridents or not is not the main point here, because the topic states DD. I can vouch for the load on 89 because I have seen it with my own eyes. During peak hours, the DDs are always packed to the brim, towards CACC from Pasir Ris in the mornings and vice versa in the evenings. -

I'm inclined to think Sv. 62 and Sv. 89 don't really need DDs. Return the Tridents to Sv. 153 and Sv. 165!

Services 100 and 145 need DDs.
For service 145, due to height restriction at Henderson Rd, SWTs can be introduce between Toa Payoh and Chinatown and deploy DDs on this SWTs. -
I took a fully packed VO3x before... The main load comes from Serangoon North to Upp Thomson Rd at around 6 plus in the morning, provided there is no 166 or 132 just before 165. Most of the load comes from school students... Must say that 165 doesn't deserve so many DD buses. Should transfer some over to 74 which needs them more badly than 165. Svc 89 do require tridents. The loads on it are pretty high, especially after SBST had successfully snatched the CAAC worker pax from TIBS when they introduced svc 39 from Yishun. This is because it is comparitively faster to take svc 39 + svc 89, compared with svc 969+ svc 19. In fact, it is possible to find a seat on a svc 969 box but much more difficult to find one on svc 39 during the morning peak.
Thus, for competition reasons and due to the loads, svc 89 does require DDs, the tridents are an incentive, but maybe cos 89 needs it for the express sectors along TPE and Loyang Ave. -

I've personally seen a packed upper deck on 89 before during the morning and evening peaks. (i've said this before)

For some reason the Mk4 DM3500s of Sv 39 are disappearing. Recently I've only seen 2832, 2829, 2819, and 2818. Theres been an influx of Mk3s & Mk4 DMs.Originally posted by service_238:Good argument you got there
