hmm i went for a morning joyride on svc 540 from eng kong garden to shenton way today. here are some of my observations on the service:

as stated by bus plus, demand is really very low. the bus i was on was the 0740 bus from eng kong garden, 7 pax on board. the earlier 2 buses had at most 3 pax on each bus only. 0800 and 0820 buses had 3-4 each.

journey time went a little off schedule today, no thanks to the morning downpour and a taxi that skidded near far east plaza causing a traffic jam

high prices a cause for its demise? the ride cost a whopping $5.50

IMO, it does provide a very high level of service, with Gold 90.5 FM turned on, copies of The Economist behind every row of seats, and soft, warm lighting; but the high prices may put people off, esp when there are existing alternatives (eg svc 77) which are much cheaper.

regos noted were PA 2198T and PH 2310K

took some photos; will be putting them up soon once i have the time.
feel free to leave any comments. i'll be taking the PM route tomorrow, and hopefully svcs 541 and 547 next week
