97 - Hougang to Jurong East -> Hougang Central to Jurong East -> Jurong East to Suntec City/Marina Centre
97 is one of the first and the longest serving bus in Jurong East. Introduced in 1984, its original route was via Pasir Panjang Rd and Clementi Rd before entering the AYE (then known as Ayer Rajah Road). It was amended via Alexandra Rd when 79 was withdrawn circa. 1986/87. In 1994, it was extended to the new Hougang Central Interchange via Hougang Ave 2 and 10. In 2003, it was shortened to loop at Suntec City/Marina Centre as part of SBS's bus rationalisation with the commencement of the NEL. -
98 - Jurong East Interchange to Jurong Interchange -> Jln Ahmad Ibrahim -> Jurong Pier Rd
98 is another old timer in Jurong East. Introduced in 1985, it was originally a loop service to the old Jurong Interchange. Its original route was via Corporation Rd from Jurong West Ave 1. In 1990, when Jurong Interchange was closed, it was made to loop at Jln Ahmad Ibrahim like the present 98A. In 1992, 247, which runs from Boon Lay to Jurong Pier Rd, was integrated with 98. At the same time, it was amended via Jurong West St 51 and Boon Lay Way to form the present route. -
99 - Jurong East to Boon Lay Drive -> Clementi to Jurong West St 91
99 was introduced in 1985 from Jurong East to Boon Lay Garden, looping at Boon Lay Dr. I'm not sure whether it was withdrawn and then re-introduced or whether it was amended/integrated with 76. What I know was that in 1988, it was doing its present destinations. Route was slightly different. From Boon Lay Ave, it went via Boon Lay Dr, Boon Lay Way, Jln Boon Lay, Upp Jurong Rd and Pioneer Rd North. In 1990, it was amended via Jurong West St 72 and Ave 5 when flats in that neighbourhood were completed and occupied. At the same time, it skipped turning into Boon Lay Dr as the traffic light junction of Jln Boon Lay and Boon Lay Ave was ready. -
92 - Paya Lebar Airport (Jln Ang Teng) to Alexandra Rd (outside Alexandra Hospital) -> Jln Ang Teng to Depot Rd -> Clementi to Paya Lebar Airport
One of the 5 services which went to Paya Lebar Airport (then a civilian airport), I guess it was introduced with the airport's opening in the 1970s. (When did Paya Lebar Airport open, anyway?) It originally looped?/terminated? outside Alexandra Hospital but in 1983 it was made to loop at Depot Rd (os HUDC, where 274 now makes a u-turn). In 1985, it was amended to start from Clementi and loop at Paya Lebar. 92 was integrated with 14 in 1993.
92 - Science Park Dr to Mt Sinai Dr
Sv. M1 was re-numbered as 92 in 1997. -
93 - Paya Lebar Airport (Jln Ang Teng) to Alexandra Rd (Labrador) -> Labrador to Paya Lebar Airport -> World Trade Centre to Paya Lebar Airport -> World Trade Centre (Harbourfront) to Eunos
93 is an old timer. Although its point to point destinations have changed but its route, for most part, has been intact since the 70s. One of the so called airport bus, it originally plied from Paya Lebar Airport to Labrador. When Paya Lebar Airport was turned into a military airport in 1981, it was made to loop there instead. In 1985, it was extended to the new World Trade Centre Terminal (now known as Harbourfront). In 1993, it stopped going to the airport and was extended to terminate at Eunos. -
96 - Clementi to Kent Ridge Cres
96 was introduced in 1984 as a feeder service to NUS (OMO 40c). Route unchanged but operation hours changed for Sundays and Public Holidays. Initially, no operation on these days but later on there were but only until 2100 hrs. I have seen students who didn't realise this fact waiting forlornly at Clementi Interchange after the last bus had departed. So in 2000, it was extended to 2300 hrs. -
Sv 81 was something like the old terminal at Changi (Upp Changi Rd North) to New Bridge Rd -> Tampines - New Bridge Rd -> Tampines - Serangoon.

Kallang Airport was in operation between 1937 - 1955. The current Stadium Boulevard was actually a piece of swamp land cum runway. Same goes for Old Airport Rd and Dunman Rd outside Gulliemard Camp.
The accident happened in 1954 whereby an aircraft overshot the runway and burst into flames near the end of the runway. Having only one runway then, there was a need for a 2nd aircraft to lane after that. That aircraft happened to be a Dakota (forgot model number). It landed safely from the east and turned into Mounbatten Rd to prevent colliding with the burning airplane. The road that was near it was then named Dakota Cres.
P.S This accident was what i can recall from watching Hey!Singapore. Kindly correct wherever possible. -

Service 70: Plied between Jln Kayu terminal and Shenton Way terminal. In 1992, with the amendment of service 73 (then Toa Payoh interchange - Yio Chu Kang terminal), amended to ply between Yio Chu Kang terminal and Shenton Way terminal as a day service on weekdays and Saturdays, while on weekday and Saturday evenings, Sundays and Public Holidays, the service, known as 70X, terminated at Lor 1 Geylang terminal. In 2001, service 70X was extended to loop at Marina Centre. Also in 2001, amended to ply Yio Chu Kang Link and Boundary Rd. In June 2003, amended to ply Serangoon Central and Upp Serangoon Rd.
Service 71: Plied between Lor 1 Geylang terminal and Old Upp Thomson terminal via Sims Ave, Paya Lebar Rd, Upp Paya Lebar Rd and Yio Chu Kang Rd. Withdrawn in 1992.
Service 72: Plied between Serangoon interchange and Tanjong Rhu via Boundary Rd, Upp Paya Lebar Rd, Paya Lebar Rd, Tanjong Katong Rd, Mountbatten Rd and Fort Rd. Withdrawn in 1992. Re-introduced in 1996, as a weekday peak hours service between Yio Chu Kang terminal and Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 (Seagate). In March 1998, merged with service 80 (Tampines interchange - Hougang Central interchange). In June 2003, amended to ply Hougang Central.
Service 73: Plied between Toa Payoh interchange and Yio Chu Kang terminal. Shortened to Ang Mo Kio interchange in 1992 via Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 and became green and white plates service. In 1993, amended to ply Serangoon Nth Ave 4. Later became loop service.
Service 74: Plied between Ang Mo Kio interchange and Clementi interchange. Used to ply Clementi Ave 2 in one direction (towards Ang Mo Kio), in return journey, turned right into C'wealth Ave West from Clementi Rd. Extended to Upp Serangoon terminal in late 1980s. In 1993, merged with service 202 (Buona Vista terminal - Jln Anak Bt). In 1994, amended to Hougang Central interchange.
Service 75: Plied between Choa Chu Kang interchange and Marina Centre terminal. Shortened to Bt Panjang terminal in 1993, with the introduction of service 179. (Choa Chu Kang interchange - Fajar Rd)
Service 76: Plied between Yio Chu Kang terminal and Marine Parade terminal. Used to ply Ubi Ave 2, Eunos Link, Jln Eunos and Still Rd, amended to ply Tanjong Katong Rd and Amber Rd in 1993, with the introduction of service 55. (then Ang Mo Kio interchange - Marine Parade terminal) Became loop service in Sep 2001.
Service 77: Re-introduced in 1995, plied between Marina Centre terminal and Farrer Rd. A year later, extended to Bt Batok interchange, skipping Farrer Rd.
Service 78: Came about in 1990, covering parts of service 245 route. Amended to skip one pair of stops along Penjuru Rd and call at a new pair along West Coast Rd, when parts of Teban Gardens Rd was closed. In May 2002, amended to skip Teban Gardens Rd in one direction. (towards Jurong East)
Service 79: Re-introduced in 1993, loop service plying between Jurong East interchange and Boon Lay interchange. A year later, amended into Chin Bee industrial area, with the amendment of service 246. Amended to skip one pair of stops along Penjuru Rd and call at a new pair along West Coast Rd, when parts of Teban Gardens Rd was closed. -
Service 80: Re-introduced in Sep 1996, plied between Tampines interchange and Hougang Central interchange, when service 81 was amended. In March 1998, merged with service 72. The number is re-used when services 84 and 864 merged in Dec 1999.
Service 81: Plied between Tampines interchange and New Bridge Rd terminal. Used to ply Waterloo St and Middle Rd towards Tampines, before amended to ply Prinsep St. Used to ply Elias Rd and (Old) Tampines Rd, amended to ply Pasir Ris Dr 12 and TPE in Sep 1996. Service 80 was introduced at the same time to cover (Old) Tampines Rd. Skipped Stamford Rd and Bras Basah Rd, and amended to ply Middle Rd. In July 2003, shortened to Serangoon interchange.
Service 82: Plied between Shenton Way terminal and Punggol terminal. Used to ply Upp Serangoon Rd and Hougang Ave 8, amended to ply Hougang Ave 2 and Ave 10 in 1992. Handed to tibs in 1995. No route change under tibs. Handed back to SBST in Aug 1999. In Dec 2003, shortened to Serangoon interchange.
Service 83: Plied between Punggol terminal and New Bridge Rd terminal. Merged with service 147 in 1993. Re-introduced in 2001, plied between Sengkang interchange and Punggol Field. In Feb 2003, amended to ply Sengkang East Rd instead of Compassvale Rd. In May 2003, extended to Edgefield Plains. In June 2003, extended to Punggol station. Service 123: Loop service which plied between St. Michael's terminal and New Bridge Rd terminal, via Balestier Rd, Moulmein Rd, Newton Rd, Scotts Rd, Orchard Rd, Clemenceau Ave, Havelock Rd, Outram Rd, Neil Rd and Eu Tong Sen St. (loop at the bus stop outside the terminal). In 1992, amended to ply between New Bridge Rd terminal and Tomlinson Rd, with the amendment of service 124. Service 124: Loop service which plied between St. Michael's terminal and Telok Blangah Rise. Used to ply PIE, Whitley Rd and Stevens Rd, amended to ply Moulmein Rd and Newton Rd in 1992. Extended to Bt Merah interchange in 1993. Amended to loop at Telok Blangah Dr in Nov 2003.
Service 125: Plied between Bt Merah interchange and St. Michael's terminal, via current service 131 route to Stamford Rd, continued via Victoria St, Middle Rd, Selegie Rd, Bt Timah Rd, Kampong Java Rd, Thomson Rd, Moulmein Rd and Balestier Rd. In the return journey, it plied Bencoolen St and Bras Basah Rd. In 1993, amended to become a daytime weekdays and Saturdays loop service, plying between St. Michael's and Shenton Way, via Balestier Rd, Lavender St, Jln Besar, Ophir Rd, Beach Rd, Connaught Dr, Collyer Quay and Raffles Quay. Introduced sometime in 1980/81. Extended to Bt Batok sometime in 1983/4(?) Shorterned to become Buona Vista - St Michael's Service in 1990(?) Withdrawn in 1992.
130 Sin Ming - Anson Rd
Introduced in the 1970s... Extended to AMK in 1984/5 and the current route is about the same as the original route except that it does not enter Rangoon Rd.
131 Balestier - Anson Rd
Introduced in the 1970s. Amended to St Michael's in the 1980s.
132 Ang Mo Kio - Bt Merah
Introduced in the 1970s. A peak hour route, 132A, was introduced in 1981/2. Plied between AMK - Tomlinson Rd. 132 extended to Hougang Sth when the area was developed. Amended again on 15/2/2004 to Hougang Ctrl when Hougang Sth Int ceased operations.
133 Ang Mo Kio - North Bridge Rd
Original route introduced in the 1970s. Route was extended to Marina Ctr when operations began. Amended to loop at Suntec City together with Express svc 501 when it was introduced in 1997.
134 Ang Mo Kio - New Bridge Rd
Original route introduced in the 1970s. Shortened to Bishan in 1989 shortly after the demise of 168 (AMK - Orchard Rd). The route was withdrawn and 54 was to substitute it's place.
135 Toa Payoh ¨C Upper Changi Road 15.5 km
Introduced in the 1970s. Amended to Somapah Int in 1982 when it was opened. Not quite sure what happened after which led to AMK - Marine Parade svc.
136 Ang Mo Kio ¨C Upper Serangoon Road (End)
Introduced in the 1970s. The original route is still in the current route except that during the 1990s, it was amended several times.

100 and 111 had a route change in 1989. 100 was extended from World Trade Centre when 20 was withdrawn. 111 was extended from Buona Vista when 13 was amended to Yio Chu Kang. Both happened on the same day.
