i think we should look at 1986 or 1987 street directories. i couldn't locate it in my 1988 directory too, jus Lorong Puntong. i suppose they wanted to name the roads in Bishan West after Bishan Street 3? but they dropped the idea and renamed the roads back to Sin Ming ???.Originally posted by tranquilice:I couldn't find Bishan St 31 and Sin Ming Lane in the 1988 street directory.
I said a dual junction with Nicoll Drive and not Upper Changi Road (now Changi Village Road).Originally posted by tranquilice:I assume the 1st junction is with present Changi Village Rd, so which is the other junction?
As shown on the map below, the present stretch of Telok Paku Rd was un-named in the 1970s. I believe that the stretch of Telok Paku Rd shown on the map is present Aviation Dr and North Perimeter Rd.
Before 1988, there was the 1984 streetdirectory. No indication of it there. Will check the 1991 directory when I go back to school.Originally posted by ^tamago^:i think we should look at 1986 or 1987 street directories. i couldn't locate it in my 1988 directory too, jus Lorong Puntong. i suppose they wanted to name the roads in Bishan West after Bishan Street 3? but they dropped the idea and renamed the roads back to Sin Ming ???.
Too bad I didn't have both.Originally posted by ^tamago^:i think we should look at 1986 or 1987 street directories. i couldn't locate it in my 1988 directory too, jus Lorong Puntong. i suppose they wanted to name the roads in Bishan West after Bishan Street 3? but they dropped the idea and renamed the roads back to Sin Ming ???.
Hmm, to me, based on the map, Tlk Paku Rd has only a junction with Nicoll Dr. The other one shouldn't be counted in my view.Originally posted by Yusry:I said a dual junction with Nicoll Drive and not Upper Changi Road (now Changi Village Road).
The un-named stretch in your map is what I considered the 1st junction. The 2nd junction is as per your map.
Both Bishan St 31 and Sin Ming Lane cannot be found in the 1991 street directory.Originally posted by Yusry:Before 1988, there was the 1984 streetdirectory. No indication of it there. Will check the 1991 directory when I go back to school.
There are no 1985, 86 and 87 street directories.
Still the same. No difference.Originally posted by tranquilice:Hmm, to me, based on the map, Tlk Paku Rd has only a junction with Nicoll Dr. The other one shouldn't be counted in my view.![]()
I think Bishan St 31 is Sin Ming Ave, Sin Ming Lane is integrated into the HDB area?Originally posted by tranquilice:Both Bishan St 31 and Sin Ming Lane cannot be found in the 1991 street directory.
I think that Bishan St 31 should be Shunfu Rd.... Perhaps the Bishan Town Plan intended to have the area as neighbourhood 3 but was called off as it is far from Bishan Central.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I think Bishan St 31 is Sin Ming Ave, Sin Ming Lane is integrated into the HDB area?
The 78 we know today was a re-introduced version. The original 78 (Clementi - Queensway) was launched together with the official opening of Clementi Interchange in 1980. 78 can be found in the 1980 Guide. 76 (Clementi - Jurong East) only appeared in the 1982 Guide.Originally posted by freakybuses:Btw, today's research @ JRL:
Bt Panjang before 1988 was called Zhenghua. Svc 5 used to call at Zhenghua Ter before the name was changed.
Choa Chu Kang West was not developed in 1992.
78 was not the first service at Clementi Int. 76 was the one.
Yes, there was a road called Lorong Cheng Hwa before Bt Panjang was developed. Zhenghua is the Pinyinised version of Cheng Hwa.Originally posted by freakybuses:Btw, today's research @ JRL:

Btw, is it 284 or 78 which was introduced earlier?Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:The 78 we know today was a re-introduced version. Take the 1992 Transitlink Guide out and see the west side is empty. A lot of tracks and see what's above CCK Stn... Quite shocked to see that... I would still prefer Punggol if CCK were to be in that state.Originally posted by cck_190:Which section did you find about the towns?
Ahh...The old Choa Chu Kang. Tell you a bit about Choa Chu Kang. Choa Chu Kang, had a three stage development plan. The first stage, by 1992, was completed. It is Teck Whye. The next stage was Choa Chu Kang West.It was completed in 1994-1996. I think that Yew Tee Development plan wasn't a confirmed plan till 1996, when they reviewed it. Then, after seeing the Choa Chu Kang West plan as a sucessful one, they decided to carry on with Yew Tee.Originally posted by freakybuses:Take the 1992 Transitlink Guide out and see the west side is empty. Even my atlas stated that Bt Panjang should have a MRT. btw, Another MRT Stn which should not be there is Lakeside (instead, it should be in Corporation).Originally posted by cck_190:Ahh...The old Choa Chu Kang. One more info abt CCK. Back in 198X when the MRT was being planned, there wasn't supposed to be a MRT Stn in CCK, it was supposed to be in Bt Panjang. This might be because during the planning stage, Bt Panjang was more developed than CCK.

yes dun forget my 78 which was later integrated with 147Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:The 78 we know today was a re-introduced version. 147 was integrated with 79 (Jurong East - Bras Basah Rd). 78 was withdrawn, I think. These 3 services are redundant, they overlap each other.Originally posted by xin1jun2:yes dun forget my 78 which was later integrated with 147

But O Level is your main priority... btw, taking CL or HCL? CL Orals are coming... I will lessen my visits soon.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I feel so lost. Looks like I'll have to stake out Jurong East Library.
79: Jurong East - Empress Place (later Marina Centre) was merged with service 97, not 147. 147 was merged with 79: Jurong East - North Bridge Road (loop)Originally posted by freakybuses:I thought it should be 79 Jurong East - Empress Pl?
Are you sure O levels is 9818A's priority? He is a die-hard bus enthusiast, just look at the daily bus rides...Originally posted by freakybuses:But O Level is your main priority... btw, taking CL or HCL? CL Orals are coming... I will lessen my visits soon.
