A little off topic, but on the topic of Sv 56...
Why doesnt it loop at Marina Centre like all other SBS services (except Sv 195 but it has to terminate there)? Its route is quite short, only about 20 fare stages, while others like Sv 162 or Sv 97 are much longer. -

and also 195 needs a partner at MRC.
To date if i'm not wrong 56 is the first SBS service or first bus service that terminates there.
So in the end its nostalgia -
It's more to do with nostalgia. Don't forget Sv. 77 used to be a SBST service too. Sv. 58 was actually the first to terminate at Marina Center Ter. If I remember correctly, service 186 used to ply Shenton Way - Farrer Rd before terminating at St Michael's. -

I wouldnt mind if TIBS would reroute Sv 77 via Victoria St / Ophir Rd / ECP to Changi Airport, it'd take over Sv 36's tourist pax Cannot use bendies in the current route anyway because of Toh Tuck Rd, can let Sv 106 deal with the Marina Centre market.

Yes, when service 77 was plying Marina Centre - Farrer Rd, it duplicated service 174 between Farrer Rd and Bras Basah Rd/Stamford Rd.
