Side Desto Plates

Now I am curious about the side desto plates. Btw, any history of Desto Plates? Here are the only things that I can remember...

1980s:
Beginning (Top White Below Green/White)
- Top with OMO/TMO/Hybrid sign
- Number bottom left
- Schematic Routes bottom right

Later (Top White Below Green/White)
- Top with OMO/TMO/Hybrid sign
- Number big at the centre
- Destination at the top of number
- One Schematic Road below number

1990s
AC (Top Navy Blue Below Red/White), NAC (Top White Below Green/White)
- Number at top left
- Destination at the top right (Fares at far right for feeder svcs)
- Schematic Routes at the bottom

2000s
Top White Below Red/ Top red below White
- Number at top left
- Destination at the top right (Fares at far right for feeder svcs)
- Schematic Routes at the bottom

Feeder service desto plates don't have fares. The older ones did, but not the new ones.

The top line was Farecard: 45 cents
The next line was Cash: 60 cents.

>>Only the OMO logo (and the fare required for flat fare serivces)was displayed. I'm not very sure but I think the above was for OMO services only. For TIBS, this was the format of their first side desto. However, it was all red and the number was larger than SBS's. Destination printed on top while schematic routes to the left. Buses with conductors were all green, the number was big and in the centre. Only the start/end points were printed; in English above the number and in Chinese below it. Same for TIBS's front desto but red in colour. CSS's desto was orange with black font.

Later (Top White Below Green/White)

>>This type was implemented during the OTS era. The top either displayed the OMO or OTS logo. Buses with conductors remain unchanged. Only the start/end points were printed, no schematic roads. Similar format for A/C services but in blue top with the words AIRCON and red bottom. TIBS destos remain unchanged except for the addition of the OMO-DRF logo at the top.

>>Sv. 170's desto (the sole survivor of the conductor era) was all green. TIBS's destos also changed during this period; similar to the ones seen on CSS buses today. Blue for AC, white for NAC. Don't forget SBS's plastic side destos. For AC, number on the left (white on blue). The words AIRCON was below it (blue on white). To the left (white on red) were the destination (top) followed by the schematic roads. For NAC, same format. Number was red on white, the rest was white on green.

I dunno what's the exact colour as my photos of them is black/white. The numbers and letterings were just painted on using stencils. Number on the left-hand side, one schematic road beside it and the detination at the bottom. STC's Isuzu and Nissan buses have a pair of roller destos; one for the number and one for the destination.

If i m a tourist, I will hope that all buses are run by SBSTransit and not SMRTbus because ......for sbst,i can see where this bus service go just by looking at the side desto but for smrtb, i will not be able do so because it is EDS and by the time i wait for the all roads to be flashed, the bus would have moved off.
