Uniformed Security Personnel at MRT Stations and Bus Interchanges
JOINT NEWS RELEASE
Uniformed security personnel will be deployed at MRT stations and bus interchanges from 1 June 2004 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the security in our public transport system. The security personnel, deployed by the public transport operators, SBS Transit and SMRT, will complement security arrangements already in place, such as regular Police patrols at the public transport facilities. There is currently no specific threat in Singapore and no cause for alarm.
The presence of uniformed security personnel will provide a visible deterrent against security threats. The uniformed security personnel can be identified by their 'Transit Security' badge on their uniform. They will perform patrols at the station or bus interchange premises. They will also conduct random bag or parcel checks, to look out for devices that can be used to cause damage to lives and properties. This may result in some inconvenience for commuters. We seek the public's understanding and cooperation in this regard. The checks are necessary to protect the safety of all commuters and ensure the security of our system.
The public should continue to maintain vigilance and report unattended articles and suspicious behaviour to the station or interchange staff, or police, and work together with the authorities and the operators on the security measures to keep our system safe and secure.

But today I went to take MRT and LRT in the morning... only see pink colour smartians there standing at the station... not in te MRT... reach CCK and BP Int also see no one.

They can't be omnipresent right... impossible to be at all stations, trains and interchanges all the time. Saw one at Bishan MRT, the public transport logo badge is so huge and so visibly obvious. It's hard to miss these people.

Havent seen any of them yet, but I think it is just a sheer waste of money.
And I dont think that they can stop u from taking photos.
And while they may be visible, I dont think they are deterrents to determined terrorists. -

guides dropping inr acks is still ok. just be discrete if seen.
advice:
do not dig into bag while dropping guides. pls hold guides in hands and then just drop and move off. prepare shipment before arrival at int..thats what i do

As for guide shipments i usually prepare the shipment at home before i go out. They're tied in rubber bands for big shipments.
Upon arrival at the rack, i just take out the shipment that is needed to drop off from my pouch and place it at the rack
ZYX - your usual method was quite obvious.. sounds like delivery man with tons of guides inside the bag -
