Not necessarily, they can use Bedok Nth Extension. Bedok Reservoir I don't consider a part of Bedok, it's more like Kaki Bukit to me.Originally posted by service_238:If you want to know why there's so many services connecting Tampines and Bedok... simple..
From Tampines to other parts of singapore except the north east and far north, services still need to go past Bedok mahz... easy logic... same for Ang Mo Kio and Serangoon.. 22 24 70 76 133 135 136 connects the AMK - SGN market.
If you noticed these AMK services are heading east.
Bedok North Rd Extn not too profitable...only go there to service Tampines Ave 1, you only get 5 bus stops when on Bedok Reservoir there is many more.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Not necessarily, they can use Bedok Nth Extension. Bedok Nth Rd Extension provides a speedy link to the busy Bedok Reservoir Rd, buses passing that area always have quite a good load.Originally posted by leeJZ:Bedok North Rd Extn not too profitable...only go there to service Tampines Ave 1, you only get 5 bus stops when on Bedok Reservoir there is many more.
4 services serving Tampines Ave 1 (after SAFRA) is enough, SBST would rather services use Bedok Reservoir Rd which has more bus stops, thus = more $$$$.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Bedok Nth Rd Extension provides a speedy link to the busy Bedok Reservoir Rd, buses passing that area always have quite a good load.
How big is the catchment base of Bedok Reservoir Rd? Don't think that just because a road has more bus stops it will mean more profits. Take for example Yio Chu Kang Rd. Over 30 bus stops, but much of the day buses from services like Sv. 854, Sv. 163, Sv. 855, Sv. 103, etc pass by the bus stops with hardly ANYONE boarding. They just zoom by. Your hypothesis has been debunked.Originally posted by leeJZ:4 services serving Tampines Ave 1 (after SAFRA) is enough, SBST would rather services use Bedok Reservoir Rd which has more bus stops, thus = more $$$$.
Wrong. Have you seen those stops on Bedok Reservoir? ALOT of people use them.Originally posted by SBS9818A:How big is the catchment base of Bedok Reservoir Rd? Your last statement is not true 100% of the time. I've been to Bedok Reservoir both at night and the day, and I wouldn't say a lot of people use them. A lot, in my opinion, is the amount of people at Orchard Emerald bus stop. Bedok Reservoir pales in comparison. Not to mention that buses using Bedok Nth Extension are comparitively full by the time they hit that stretch.Originally posted by leeJZ:Wrong. Have you seen those stops on Bedok Reservoir? btw more bus stops = more POTENTIAL profit
Demand for the bus stops is quite good. They serve joggers at Bedok Reservoir Park and the HDB flats / condos off Bedok Reservoir Rd.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Your last statement is not true 100% of the time. Punggol Road, outside Blk 298A.Originally posted by leeJZ:Demand for the bus stops is quite good. They serve joggers at Bedok Reservoir Park and the HDB flats / condos off Bedok Reservoir Rd.
Can you think of any non central (ie TPY Ctrl) bus stop outside the city that can beat the Orchard Emerald bus stop in terms of pax?
Tampines Ave 1 catchment is only mainly Temasek Poly students and the small number of HDB flats off it, Bedok Reservoir loads can beat it easily except during school release hours. Currently it is the holidays, loads are pretty miserable.

Of course I can, Admiralty MRT stop, Bishan Nth Shopping Mall, Zion Kindergarten on Bishan St 11, Eunos Blk 322 bus stop, just to name a few.Originally posted by leeJZ:Demand for the bus stops is quite good. Travelling time between SAFRA and the junction of Bedok North Rd & Bedok Reservoir Rd via Bedok Reservoir Rd or Tampines Ave 1 / Bedok North Rd Extn is comparable.Originally posted by gynobcard:more bus stops = longer traveling time
You cant compare a stretch of road in HDB estate with that of central or shopping mall stops. Bedok Reservoir Rd can be even busier than roads like Tampines Ave 9, at times Tampines Ave 1, Pasir Ris Dr 3...Originally posted by SBS9818A:Of course I can, Admiralty MRT stop, Bishan Nth Shopping Mall, Zion Kindergarten on Bishan St 11, Eunos Blk 322 bus stop, just to name a few.
In the numerous times that I've been to Bedok Reservoir Rd, be it during day or night, pax flow there is very light. Most times, I see pax alighting and I can count the number boarding with one hand. AFAIK Zion Kindergarten isn't in Bishan Central, neither is Blk 54 of TPY. So we're comparing apples to apples, and not apples to oranges.Originally posted by leeJZ:You cant compare a stretch of road in HDB estate with that of central or shopping mall stops. During school days, There will be alot of Damai Sec students taking bus from the nearby bus stop usually in the afternoon.Originally posted by SBS9818A:In the numerous times that I've been to Bedok Reservoir Rd, be it during day or night, pax flow there is very light.
But after school dismissal times everything quietens down right? The students don't mill around 7pm to take a bus, no? You can't expect them to cut class and take a bus at 9am also right?Originally posted by sbs&tibs:During school days, There will be alot of Damai Sec students taking bus from the nearby bus stop usually in the afternoon.
However, the load at Bedok Reservoir is MORE than the load along Tampines Ave 1, most of the times.Originally posted by SBS9818A:In the numerous times that I've been to Bedok Reservoir Rd, be it during day or night, pax flow there is very light. And your point is? By the time these services hit Tampines Ave 1 they are quite full.Originally posted by leeJZ:However, the load at Bedok Reservoir is MORE than the load along Tampines Ave 1, most of the times.
21 22 65 66 228 506 all ply the vast majority of the bus stops on the road while only 8 15 23 69 ply Tampines Ave 1 (aft SAFRA).
Furthermore, Tampines Ave 1 load is high percentage of TP students, without them, load is quite light.
Nope. After rounding into Tampines Ave 10 the buses are usually about half full. In fact, most of the pax along Tampines Ave 1 board / alight to / from the interchange, as it is the holidays now, so few TP students.Originally posted by SBS9818A:And your point is? Wow. Your last statement does not prove anything, in my opinion. I'm sick and tired of arguing, it seems that you are arguing for the sake of arguing or trying to increase your postcount.Originally posted by leeJZ:Nope. By comparison, Bedok Reservoir Rd's load is quite stable throughout the year.
And I have passed through Tampines Ave 1 via Sv 23 for quite alot of times...more than you.
Uh huh.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Wow. Your last statement does not prove anything, in my opinion. I'm sick and tired of arguing, it seems that you are arguing for the sake of arguing or trying to increase your postcount.
Come on, in 4 months I only had less than 800 posts. Quit being a kid and grow up. We're all sick and tired of your bickering over inane issues like this.Originally posted by leeJZ:Uh huh.
"I know Bishan better than you do."
btw look at your post count before looking at mine...i daresay you have more posts per day than mine.
Proof. Go divide your post count by the number of months you joined and then do the same to mine.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Come on, in 4 months I only had less than 800 posts. Quit being a kid and grow up. We're all sick and tired of your bickering over inane issues like this.
What you are doing is getting an average count of posts. The reality is sometimes in a month you post more, sometimes less.Originally posted by leeJZ:Proof. Go divide your post count by the number of months you joined and then do the same to mine.
