Service 950 operates between Woodlands Interchange and JB Kota Raya Terminal.Originally posted by DC5_2004:950 will be started to operate soon. But, I have some questions to know.
1, 950 is go to where?
2, Which type of buses will be used?
I hope sombody to give more information about it,thanks![]()
No. However new SCs may be needed after redeployment of SCs to other services.Originally posted by supremebull:How are they going to make space at the Woodlands Checkpoint and the JB checkpoint for the SMRT Bus Service 950 bus berths or boarding point? AFAIK, the Woodlands Checkpoint has space but what about the massively overcrowded JB checkpoint?
And are SMRT Bus going to hire new drivers just for 950?
Sv. 950 will probably use the same berth as Sv. 966, once a new railing is constructed, that would signify the impending launch of Sv. 950Originally posted by supremebull:How are they going to make space at the Woodlands Checkpoint and the JB checkpoint for the SMRT Bus Service 950 bus berths or boarding point? KotaRaya Terminal* is very quiet. Just a big open space with 2 busstops. If you happen to go to Kotayaya try the senaiexpreessshuttle bus(run by causewaylink,MANbuses used). It is free and the interval is 30/40mins.Originally posted by ^tamago^:will try to pong Kota Raya Terminal & Larkin Terminal when i can tis wkend. hope to see something interesting.
170 terminate at Kota Raya Terminal or KRT2? i only noe i've been to the one where 170X terminates. but i haven't seen the new senai express shuttle bus terminal & city lounge.Originally posted by bus911:KotaRaya Terminal* is very quiet. *I suppose you are refering to KotaRaya2.
but this month i took 170x to kotraya2 and go to the newlybuilt citylounge(open in early june) u wait for senaibus there.Originally posted by ^tamago^:170 terminate at Kota Raya Terminal or KRT2? i only noe i've been to the one where 170X terminates. but i haven't seen the new senai express shuttle bus terminal & city lounge.
Hmm, they are not rostered in? I presume some are M'sian captains. Roughly works out to about 20 buses for this service, with about 5-10 spare drivers.Originally posted by TIB744U:Hey there everyone!
Basically... According to me sources, current SMRT service captains chose their way into Service 950, I suppose around 50?

Hey there everyone!
Basically... In fact, I think I should clarify this since me service captain friend had told me umpteen times about it alreadyIt's not some are Malaysian service captains but ALL of them, regardless of whether they had been granted Singapore Permanent Residents or not, as long as they're Malaysians. Please do take note that Singaporean service captains or bus captains are NEVER allowed on both Service 170 and future Service 950.

Really? That's a very interesting revelation. Thanks for the headup!Originally posted by TIB744U:Hey there 9818
Basically... Perhaps that's what I thought so, but it could interfere immigration reasons too. Anyway, the source's from one of me service captain friends who had came from SBST. His depot operates Service 170, thus BBDEP but he's based in ARBP. Service 170 never had Singaporean bus captains, and that would apply for Service 950 service captains too.
Why 911? Can't it be 912 or 913?Originally posted by ^tamago^:my guess is that 911's checkpoint direction will be cut out to 950 and 911 will retain only its dr 83 sector under the same number 911. thus:
Wodlands Regional Interchange, (Woodlands Ave 3), St 11, Centre Rd, Woodlands Checkpoint, JB Checkpoint, (... Jln Air Molek ...), Kota Raya 2 Terminal. (jus like CW1 and 170X)
anyway, on my recee trip to JB, i've found no traces of 950. some points:there are no new railings made for any new services at Woodlands Checkpoint. fyi, CW1 operates out of a makeshift railing and i suppose 950 will have to bear with that too. and the signages only have SJE (Singapore-Johor Express) and SBS but no CW and SMRTB.
the congestion at the coaches lane is already unbearable during peak hours. it will surely get worse if 950 comes in. i wonder if there is over-demand.
the Queen St - Larkin route has been approved by MY authorities. boarding a CW1 bus, u will most likely find a copy of the approved route sheet, just like 170 buses. some changes coming up:
CW1 ([Fare] Stage Bus): goes from Larkin to Kranji MRT as per now, then down Upp Bt Timah Rd & Bt Timah/Dunearn Rd as per 170, jus that it stops on alternate stops only. yes, the route shows things like "King Albert's Park, Blissvale, Sixth Ave, National JC, Coronation Plaza etc".
CW2 (Express Bus): details not not, but presumably an express version of 170. now, tis could be a real competitor to SBST's 170.
these changes will take effect sometime in August.
Does that mean CW1 will be extended to further down Bt. Timah Rd? That will be a true competitor of Sv. 170Originally posted by ^tamago^:my guess is that 911's checkpoint direction will be cut out to 950 and 911 will retain only its dr 83 sector under the same number 911. thus:

Maybe, but CWL is not willing to use ez-link payment. What's more, 170 is also facing compeition from 171 or 67 as well. Even my friends will not take this bus as they are anti MY over certain issues.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Does that mean CW1 will be extended to further down Bt. Timah Rd? Even if they don't accept ez-link payment, it will be a good alternative to Sv. 170, I rather ride new MAN buses than a Mk III.Originally posted by sbst275:Maybe, but CWL is not willing to use ez-link payment. But you have habits on 67 on certain parts aft Bukit Panjang. Also, people avoid as we would rather support our services. Just like there are few takers to Senai Airport as in the news paper report "Only 20% of 600,000 passengers in Jan - May are Singaporeans"Originally posted by SBS9818A:Even if they don't accept ez-link payment, it will be a good alternative to Sv. 170, I rather ride new MAN buses than a Mk III.
