Some SMRT interchanges are not suitable for DDs. That is the reason why you don't see VO3X on Svc 39 due to height restrictions at Yishun.Originally posted by carbikebus:How did you know that SMRTB can't have DDs?It is a matter of their preferences only my dear boy,If not SBST Can't even have one bendy!
I don't think there's any height restriction at Woodlands Crossing, if not how the double-deck tour coaches go past Woodlands checkpoint? (or are they only allowed to use Tuas checkpoint?)Originally posted by iveco:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could have sworn the Woodlands Crossing Interchange has a 3.8m gantry at the entrance.
those double deck coaches are much lower than DDs, i think they will reach 3.5 m ++Originally posted by tranquilice:I don't think there's any height restriction at Woodlands Crossing, if not how the double-deck tour coaches go past Woodlands checkpoint? That's a different cases not the fact that why SMRT Buses can't have DDs!Originally posted by iveco:Some SMRT interchanges are not suitable for DDs. That is the reason why you don't see VO3X on Svc 39 due to height restrictions at Yishun.

imo, since SBS[SBST predecessor] started with DDs, SMRT[TIBS predecessor] does not want commuters to mistake their fleet with those of SBS opted for Bendys for easy differentiation. In addition, Bendy buses are used extensively in European Countries, eg Switzerland, France, Italy & slowly replacing DDs in UK. It's not a matter of SMRT can't have DDs but company's cost & benefit policy.Originally posted by carbikebus:That's a different cases not the fact that why SMRT Buses can't have DDs!
39 can go the other side of the Int what, why of all place must 39 go to SIngle berths?Originally posted by iveco:Some SMRT interchanges are not suitable for DDs. That is the reason why you don't see VO3X on Svc 39 due to height restrictions at Yishun.

If bendies are slowly replacing DDs in UK, why are the B7TLs and Trident 2X still being built?Originally posted by Acx1688:imo, since SBS[SBST predecessor] started with DDs, SMRT[TIBS predecessor] does not want commuters to mistake their fleet with those of SBS opted for Bendys for easy differentiation. Wait, now that you recall, I think so, but that was about 5 years ago, since I went......... Besides, I recall that there is a bridge there that is quite low.Originally posted by iveco:Some SMRT interchanges are not suitable for DDs. B7TLs & Trident 2X are being built to replace the RMs & other DDs. What i meant about Bendies are slowing replacing DDs is because of their supposedly cost efficiency[read about it in Buses magazine] . However, NOT all buses will be replaced coz London still wants to maintain their Distinctive Red DDs.Originally posted by iveco:If bendies are slowly replacing DDs in UK, why are the B7TLs and Trident 2X still being built?
ya i agree with you i had the same experience once on CT28.Originally posted by 105090:yes i have a complain about CT8 timings.
A lot of time it happened. say fm chinatown is 1600 departs. but at 1555, i see the CT8 bus turns into upp cross street! have to wait 35 mins for nxt bus.
also fm AMK, reach AMK stn is 1221, but bus will arrive at 1215. waits another 30 mins.
if the bus is later say 1605, its still ok, but to depart early means commuters has to wait extra 30 mins, making CT buses a slower choice than MRT..
i tot CT BCs are more responsible and has a better personality, and with their short route and relax schedule, departing early isnt good when freq is 30 mins, not 10mins.
I dun tink CT schedules are relaxed, all of them do xovers and some times do back to back trips.Originally posted by 105090:i tot CT BCs are more responsible and has a better personality, and with their short route and relax schedule, departing early isnt good when freq is 30 mins, not 10mins.
apparently the drivers on CT8 are fixed. mornings they do 268 or 268A then to CT8. changing shift, the drivers do CT8 until last trip, and change to 268.Originally posted by leeJZ:I dun tink CT schedules are relaxed, all of them do xovers and some times do back to back trips.
not related but S39 on sch holiday schedule has headways of up to 16 minutes (not only in the night but during late mornings and througout the afternoon), hardly justifiable for DDs![]()
whats T shift?Originally posted by leeJZ:Hmm I have a timetable of a Saturday T Shift CT8 and it often does back to back trips sometimes, sometimes with 10 min break.
not enough air pressure? or there's a warning light on meaning there's a prob with the bus?Originally posted by bismarck:screwed up bus and driver along buona vista!!!!!
on hot day still drive non aircon bus SLOWLY. brilliant!!!!
sweating like mad
just now the same bus when going to mrt. that joker stop at red lights then repeatedly revved his engine. the bus was rattling for 10-20secs at a time. and he kept doing it for 3-4 times.
waht';s his problem ? think he takumi ah? or trying to show off his huge diesel engine to others ???
i cant be bothered to see air pressure or wahtever crap.Originally posted by samtlk:not enough air pressure? or there's a warning light on meaning there's a prob with the bus?
some warning lights allow the driver to rev the engine but lock the gears. mkIIs always have probs with air pressure leakage. revving the engine will pump back the air a lot faster but is often not recommended because of the pollution (& waste of diesel -- $$)
