OMG CFC!!! OMG the ozone layer!!! OMG global warming, rising sea levels and Shit!!Originally posted by nasmeg:why do we still have buses without aircon operating? not to mention those very very old CSC or CSS buses ..
our public transportation is regarded among the best in the world, shouldn't the govment look into replacing those old and no/partial aircon buses to full aircon buses ..
i remember few years back some minister or high level official saying in the news that soon all buses would be with aircon .. can anyone remember who said tat, so we can complain he did not keep his words ...
does no aircon bus bother you? to me it is, cos i take bus to work and sometimes got the bus without aircon, worse still the road to my workplace through construction area with a lot of dusts so arrive at office, face hair got dirty ..![]()
Scania will be retire on 2006. Volvo Mk2 retire ON 2005 and not 2007 as they came in 1988Originally posted by ^tamago^:yes. also, the engine power is often used to run the air-conditioner as well, which reduces the power available to power the bus.
some non air-con buses are still around from the old days as it would be uneconomical to retire them simply because they are non air-con. some of the buses have already been converted to air-con, while some are not converted due to:to be retired soon (Scanias from 2006, Volvo B10M Mk2 from 2007)
used to meet certain service's requirement of having non air-con buses (the reasons behind this is disputable of cos, like low demand, high rate of concession usage, industrial services etc)
the last of non air-con buses (assuming no new non air-con buses come along), Volvo Olympian 2-axle double deckers with Alexander body, will be retired in around 7 years' time, but they only number about 100 and the majority have settled down on Jurong Industrial services.
