Hope 950 can extend to Yishun. Passing by MRT stations such as Admiralty, Sembawang and terminate in Yishun Int. In fact, follow the MRT track all the way from Marsiling until Yishun.Originally posted by smrt_950:whether or not smrt is goin to increase capacity is none of my concern here. i'm merely stating that loads on this svc is increasing...

It is a bit duplicating. What's the point of building MRT when ppl prefer buses?Originally posted by PJ_Quek:Hope 950 can extend to Yishun. Passing by MRT stations such as Admiralty, Sembawang and terminate in Yishun Int. In fact, follow the MRT track all the way from Marsiling until Yishun.
No need to fight for students with the Bas Sekolah. There is big market for people in Yishun, Sembawang and Admiralty. Currrently, no SBST buses serves there, besides 39, from Tampines to Yishun Int.
At the same time, people from AMK, HG and SK can take 169, 851, 852, 853, 854, 855 and 965 to Yishun Int to change 950, if 950 is extended to Yishun Int. Quite a good idea.
At least it is cheaper than to transfer... Can also snatch 170 bis indirectly unless frequency improves...Originally posted by sbs&tibs:It is a bit duplicating. What's the point of building MRT when ppl prefer buses?
What do you mean CW1 is too expensive? Fare is the same as 170. If you're comparing with EZ-link fares, it will be cheaper if you board from JB because you're paying in RM. And don't be too assured of seats unless you're first in line. SJE and CW2 depart alternately from Queen St. Generally, people will take whichever leaves next. Its slow start is due to the lack of exposure but over time more people will know of it.Originally posted by sbst275:A review of 1 mth progress
Sv 160/ 170 - Still the lau da
Sv 950 - Can improve further*
CW1 - Too expensive, but assured of seats*
CW2 - Disappointing demand*
SJE - OK, still in the lead
*Bus have to wait at Checkpoint for at least 6 mins
Certain parts of Yishun (Ave 2), Sembawang and Woodlands not so near to MRT stations, duplicating can help a bit to provide convenience for the people there.Originally posted by sbs&tibs:It is a bit duplicating. What's the point of building MRT when ppl prefer buses?
No, cash payment is S$1.40 when 170 is S$1.30 when it is in Malaysia, 170 also uses in RM... CW1 does have seats, demand has reduced ever since 160 came in especiallyOriginally posted by The_Bus_Guide:What do you mean CW1 is too expensive? Fare is the same as 170. The buses currently on services 160 and 170 are MK3s. The previous fleet of MK2 WA NAC on service 170 was removed when the service converted from NAC to FAC in Nov 2001.Originally posted by WJTW:This isn't exactly related to what is being discussed at the moment, but it still does apply to the main topic.
It seems that most, if not all, of the buses SBS uses for their Malaysia route are not exactly new buses. Some of these buses are even non-air-conditioned! I don't know how much good this would do to the image of Singapore buses... anyone agree?
I certainly do not agree. ALL SBS buses deployed on both Services 160 and 170 are AIR-CONDITIONED. Although they aren't new, the buses deployed on the cross-border services are arguably the most well-maintained SBS buses around. Talking about image of Singapore buses, I'll chop off my head if anyone says we are nowhere near JB buses' 'standards'.Originally posted by WJTW:This isn't exactly related to what is being discussed at the moment, but it still does apply to the main topic.

They are the best MK III deployed... SBS still gets the lion share during the recent long holidays, they deployed out 60 buses but at certain hrs, it is not enough due to heavy jams... Sometimes, there are no trails of CW1 and 950 because of the jamOriginally posted by Superbus:I certainly do not agree. ALL SBS buses deployed on both Services 160 and 170 are AIR-CONDITIONED. Sorry to burst your bubble, but AMDEP buses are the best-maintained of all the SBST fleet.Originally posted by Superbus:I certainly do not agree. After you pass the malaysian immigration, you will see a underground tunnel entrance, look at the left side of the tunnel entrance, you will see a carpark for the Johor Customs officers, wait for the bus around there.
If you are using EzLink regardless you board 160, 170 or 950, and you continue your journey by walking, instead of continuing on bus, you will find your EzLink got deducted for the maximum fare.
Remember, if you get down at malaysian immgration for passprt clearance, your EzLink status is only "Ride Suspended", not deducting the correct fare. If you discontinue, your fare will be deducted at maximum value. Just like in Singapore, you get down the bus without tapping your EzLink card.

Another note, it is faster to walk to Kota Raya esp when Causeway has heavy jam.Originally posted by n0_Nick:where is kotaraya?
