"wooden" buses

I remember many years back I actually took a service 139 from toa payoh, then back then it was those type DD "wooden" interior. then a few years later I took 139 again, 1 wooden DD was still there. when 139 converted to air con fleet such buses are gone. i heard from my friend a few years ago they were converted to jurong industrial services fleets. are they still in existence nowadays or have they gone to the scraps? what were the make and bus numbers if anyone knows?

i Think you are referring to the Leyland Olympian 2x Bahx.. i used to study in a school AlonG River Valley Rd... used to take 139 and 54 everyday.. i think.. All Leyland Olympian 2x are all gone from Singapore Roads... If Im NOt WrOng..

Did the Leyland Atlanteans with red colour seats (one example is SBS 4860 J) had "wooden interior" too? The seat "back cover" was made from wood?

iF didnt remember wrongly, they do have Red Seats.. those were the buses that had a very small Renovation to it.. hmmm.. main reason that SBST did that was that they wanted the buses to look more NEW.. as they have been serving Singapore Raods for more than 17 years already.. they do that.. extend the life of these buses for a few more years before selling it to 3rd world countries.. thats what i think.. if im not wrong.. there was once a batch of Leyland 2x being shipped to HongkOng.. serving CityBus.. but.. they were been redraw from Service in 1998.. doesnt know where they are now.. Scrap yards in Guangzhou... They were withdrawn in 1989 - 1990. Last serving were services like 140.
