In the past it was 2 services. 51 (Eunos - Labrador) and 192 (Jurong - South Canal) integrated in the 80s.Originally posted by kuekj:i see the thing about 51 is that it is really a service that's really too long. spans 3 pages on the bus guides, passes through a lot of places which is currently served by other services and quite a bit of duplication somewhere. can the service be chopped up?
Well, if they have to stop halfway for this, I'm understandableOriginally posted by iveco:Sometimes I pity the BCs who serve on 14 & 51. The time taken to complete a trip in each direction is murder. What if nature calls?
SMRT 61 is also any long route. It has more twists and turns than SBST 14.
But.. IF im not wrong.. 51 got more DD bus than 147.. nowadays... MOst of the 147s are the Mk 4s... iS this the reason why 51 do get less bus than 147.. ??Originally posted by ^tamago^:yes. i was doing perm list and i could add in a point about the freq of 51: there are 37 buses on 147 but only 32 buses on 51.
Dun forget, 147 has ultra high demand after 103 is off serving CBD area. Otherwise, frequency is 8-12 minsOriginally posted by ^tamago^:051: 25 DD + 7 SD = 57 SD
147: 28 DD + 9 SD = 65 SD
147 has 3 more DD's, and its capacity is higher than 51's. probably 51 has less demand, but thus results in worse frequency.
OK then, has anyone taken a bus and the BC had to leave the vehicle midway to answer nature's call?Originally posted by sbst275:Well, if they have to stop halfway for this, I'm understandable
Don't forget 81 as well.Originally posted by sbst275:Dun forget, 147 has ultra high demand after 103 is off serving CBD area. Otherwise, frequency is 8-12 mins
64.. Bus had to stop after the Boon Keng MRT bus stop. It was a Dennis Trident... So long ago alreadyOriginally posted by iveco:OK then, has anyone taken a bus and the BC had to leave the vehicle midway to answer nature's call?
81 was GONE BY THENOriginally posted by iveco:Don't forget 81 as well.
Yeah. First it was 81, then 103. 147 is the anchor of the NEL. Cannot amend it further.Originally posted by sbst275:81 was GONE BY THEN
No no no, the first anchor was svc 85, then it got kenna chopped, svc 147 replaced it.Originally posted by iveco:Yeah. First it was 81, then 103. 147 is the anchor of the NEL. Cannot amend it further.
I think drivers get paid depending on the hrs they drive, which is indicated on their time sheet.Originally posted by sBs_boy:Ya Lor Ya Lor.. haiz.. lucky SBST have not made anymore changes for the moment now.. i think no matter what, 51 have to stay.. Or else.. no one will knows the side effect of this.. i think.. what they can do now is to start a xpress service that runs from Hougang to Jurong.. to ease the load of 51.. or some other service... that can help to Ease the load of 51 in the same time.. haiz... pity those drivers of 51.. ya.. m just curious.. do the drivers get the same pay from driving a Feeder service and a trunk Service.. ?? oR... they get their pay according to the distance they have travelled.. ??![]()
Are you sure they can go according to the Time Sheet.. ?? its like.. almost 40 mins is gone.. ?? how do they make up.. ?? speed all the way.. ??Originally posted by leeJZ:I think drivers get paid depending on the hrs they drive, which is indicated on their time sheet.
Express service between Hougang & Jurong East is not going to ease the loads of svc 51, svc 51 loads come from in between the route, ie pax from Hougang Ave 3 to Geylang / Chinatown, or pax from Queensway going to Commonwealth MRT.
svc 51 takes about 2h during the day, but drivers only get 1h 20min at night! Breaks are about 30min, which is quite long.
At night they can speed like crazy... You can try some other rts as wellOriginally posted by sBs_boy:Are you sure they can go according to the Time Sheet.. ?? its like.. almost 40 mins is gone.. ?? how do they make up.. ?? speed all the way.. ??
