And yes, service 119 DOES HAVE ONE PERMANENT VO3X in its fleet. As for rego, check it out yourself. -

I think the earliest we will be seeing the O500s might be next Christmas. What do you guys think.
Anyway, Euro-4 standards would have kicked in by then. Unless, of course, these vehicles are really gas-powered but that is another story. -
So what's the latest status on those M-B O 500 LE orders ?
They still evaluating or already ordered ?
They not keen in the M-B Citaro O 530 or O 530 G ??
I do believe it's high time operators here buy 'original' complete buses instead of
mating fine-class bus-chassi with (usually) sub-standard bus bodies !
TIBS Hispano bodies is a good start in the right direction, although of course it's not exactly arrived as 'original' in true form.
Governement can & should help in the funding so that people here pay low fare but get to ride in fine class buses ! -

The width is around 2.5 metres, quite standard for city-buses.
What i like about Citaro is that is an original integrally constructed Mercedes-Benz bus i.e. the 'real thing' not just some bus-chassi only with lousy 3rd party bodies which much of the world knows. Therefore i expect original M-B quality on the bodywork & having seen an M-B O 303 coach (real one, down to the M-B star markings on the glass !) in Europe i'm confident similar M-B car-like levels of finishing & overall product quality would be seen on the Citaro. The Hispano Habit body is i'll say 'on the way' to that standard but utimately still falls short of the original real thing ! So it's the product quality that draws me to original buses like the Citaro.
Lookswise, i don't exactly find the Citaro specially good looking but i'll say it still does denote basic M-B values of functionality vs aesthetics in a well crafted form. The instrumentation could have been done better, seems too basic now compared to the O 404 coach or O 405 citybus ! Chassiwise, the excellent suspension ride comfort of M-B buses is to me a major reason to select them.
Therefore overall, given currently available choices, i'll still prefer the Citaro !
But i hope this time they specify using the original M-B gearbox & use air-con compressors of the quieter, less harsh & vibrasive type instead. The modern diesel engines (with full engine encapsulation) are no doubt quiet so no point to have noiser 'peripherals' like ill matched gearboxes & air-con compressors to make bus nosier than it's 'supposed' to be ! On 23th May 2005. These 3 SBS buses are retired from today. SBS 1698 G, SBS 1699 D and SBS 1700 H now..

If Singapore does ever get the Citaros, I hope they do not buy it with the standard 6 litre engines. From Windy's experience, their performance is absolutely pathetic. Even the Routemasters could outrun them on hill climbs.
