Which is also because NIE got relocated there, hence the introduction of Service 179. I agree that the current bus services is more than adequate to cope with the students. The bus companies should focus more on beefing up the frequencies rather than introduce new services. Furthermore, if new service(s) are to be introduce, for the sake of students per se, these services will become redundant come the school holidays in particular.Originally posted by huaiwei:Strange why you think that some schools need more services when they are over services already.
Yeah, especially those along swanky Bukit Timah Road. Come on...how many of them get to choose to come to school by bus anyway?
Millenia Institute dosent need as much bus services as imagined. Its not exactly a huge student population, and that applies to practically every other JC too. I would think only the Polytechnics and Unis need substaintial services.
But come to think of it, NTU survived on just one service for quite a damn long time before they introduced a second service recently right?
If my memory doesn't fail me, a bus bay has already been constructed along that stretch of Woodlands Ave 2. The only missing structure is the shelter.Originally posted by leeJZ:IMO they should build a 3rd bus stop along Woodlands Ave 2 (aft Woodlands Ave 1) to serve Innova JC and Sports School students, currently 161 and 168 ply express after Woodlands Ave 1.
8, 23 - Amended to ply TAM Ave 1 (outside TP), TAM Ave 10 (express), BDK Nth Rd.Originally posted by huaiwei:I remember when Temasek Poly opened, they amended about 4 routes and introduced 1 or 2 just for that purpose too right? Dont have the records with me to give more details lah..only faint recollections.
What was svc 8's old route? Just go straight down Bedok Reservoir Rd? I know that svc 23 used to go directly into PIE @ Simei Ave.Originally posted by iveco:8, 23 - Amended to ply TAM Ave 1 (outside TP), TAM Ave 10 (express), BDK Nth Rd.
15 (NEW, originally PSR - EUN via TP, then extended to Marine Parade with M4's axing.)
27 (shortened to TAM - CGA as 15 covered PSR - TAM sector, later extended to SKG then HGN eventually.)
69 (NEW, TAM - BDK via TP, no amendment as yet.)
Your JC is also serviced by 169 which also connects it to the Upp Thomson corridor, Ang Mo Kio and Woodlands.Originally posted by kuekj:i noe there are many jcs n polys which are well serviced, but i got a few suggestions and questions:
hcjc (future hwa chong inst) + njc: served by the very busy dunearn road + bt timah, any routes like backdoor routes for them? e.g. njc has hillcrest road but unfortunately a private housing estate
millenia institute (current 2 campuses) : bartley is served by many services which also helps service spca and the famous temple there, while toh tuck is only serviced by 173which has very bad timings (I was there with my junior for a few times) and have to wait a whole 1/2h to get a busload of mi'ans in. well, all these can don't bother, how about the future single campus to house all of them at bukit batok east ave 3? can't be just serviced by a single feeder..
yishun jc (my own jc) : currently quite good location becuz can walk up from khatib mrt, but walk from yishun mrt very confusing. only serviced by 1 feeder 812, maybe can have another feeder?
the future innova jc + current sports school: what services now?
how about republic poly?
8 & 18 used to run parallel from TAM Int until junction of BDK Reservoir/Nth Ave 3.Originally posted by leeJZ:What was svc 8's old route? Just go straight down Bedok Reservoir Rd? I know that svc 23 used to go directly into PIE @ Simei Ave.
Champions Way, off Woodlands Ave 2 (see the red star). As shown on the map, it was originally named Woodlands JC.Originally posted by iveco:By the way, where is Innova JC? I kind of like the name. It sounds so funky.![]()
'Innova' is derived from 'Innovation'.Originally posted by iveco:By the way, where is Innova JC? I kind of like the name. It sounds so funky.![]()
When Temasek Polytechnic shifted to Tampines in Sep 1995, there were only 3 services serving it, ie 8, 15 and 69 in which 15 and 69 were new services. Services 23 and Express 518 serve it later on.Originally posted by huaiwei:I remember when Temasek Poly opened, they amended about 4 routes and introduced 1 or 2 just for that purpose too right? Just extend SBST 32 or 145 to Kent Ridge via Commonwealth Ave West and Clementi Road.... Unfortunately that was rejected by SBST.Originally posted by disappear:Make another version of 96 to serve Dover station. i don't see how dd will be affected, because as long as it serve MRT station, there will be demand.
It can start from Kent Ridge Term, go to Kent Ridge Cresent, then Clementi Road, turn right to Dover Station. Then it can do a U turn and go back to Clementi Road, following the usual 96 route.......Thereafter it can do a few rounds of 96, but bringing people to and from Dover station. After that it can terminate by doing the last trip from Dover station to Clementi Road, this time not turning into Kent Ridge Cresent but going straight on to Kent Ridge Terminal.
