In line with their new image, SMRTB has adopted the new design/colours for their bus stop plates. Those white plates belong to "Scheme-B" services. There are a handful of services which still operates. However, I'm confused with the following sentence, "operators can remove those white plates and give smrt bus stop plates their white plates, not use white here and gray there". You mean SMRTB should adopt the white colour plates instead? Or?Originally posted by kuekj:well, i was in town a few days ago, and i notice that the smrt services plates have changed colour from the yellow we are very familiar with during the tibs era to gray for smrt. but around my school the bus stop plates are white. are there any more those "school bus" services which bring ppl to town nowadays, like those already extinct service 645? if nope, perhaps, those school bus operators can remove those white plates and give smrt bus stop plates their white plates, not use white here and gray there.
also, the smrt bus stop plates feels a little bit empty as compared to sbst ones. e.g. sbst ones will state the bus stop description (e.g. little india station) but smrt dun have. in the past the "TRANS-ISLAND" logo was long, so can understand, but now the SMRT logo is shorter, having those empty spaces on the right of the plate looks awkward.IMO, SMRTB should display the bus-stop description in their territories (eg Woodlands, Yishun, Bt Batok), especially those bus-stops without any SBST service calling. Since SBST plates already have the bus-stop description, it is redundant for SMRTB to do the same. The Transitlink Bus Guide still provide the same description for both SBST and SMRTB.
Does it really matter when the bus numbers never correspond anyway?Originally posted by the Bear:actually, what i'm kinda pissed off with is that the SMRT buses now are almost the same colour as the SBST buses...
can't differentiate them properly in the dark or when the bus is covered in an ad...
that i'll agree.. in those stops without sbst buses, place the bus stop description there. if it's smrtb majority, sbst can compromise and don't display bus stop description, let smrtb do that. and vice versa.Originally posted by Superbus:IMO, SMRTB should display the bus-stop description in their territories (eg Woodlands, Yishun, Bt Batok), especially those bus-stops without any SBST service calling. This is because the SMRT logo is too big to fit anything else. I agree that the 2 plates look very much alike in low lighting conditions. However, they do put the destination name under the service, but its a pity they dun put much brains into doing it. For example, there are pairs of bus stop in Yishun that say Yishun in both directions for NR1, so are the commuters left in a daze and return to Yishun in 10mins or 1hr 40 mins later? These bus stops are the older ones and hence do not have provision for the new bus stop info posters yet.Originally posted by kuekj:that i'll agree.. in those stops without sbst buses, place the bus stop description there. if it's smrtb majority, sbst can compromise and don't display bus stop description, let smrtb do that. and vice versa.
it can be rather odd when all of us are so accustomed to sbst plates having stop information but this plate is surrounded by smrtb plates without the information, instead of being on top.
in my first post i mentioned remove those Scheme B white plates and have smrtb use the white plates all over singapore. I do think we should let smrtb bus plates unify their colour, not having white in the areas they pass by and gray in the city area. there might be some Scheme B services, but maybe they can assume another plate colour?
