51 shud be chopped into 2 service, say,
A - Jrg east to NBR
B - NBR to Hougang
As for 61:
A - Bt Batok to HBF
B - Shenton Way to Eunos (Shenton way cos there's no 'vacancy' for another bus service at HBF)
I think some other services shud be shorten too, maybe 961. I feel that the route for 51 and 61 are a tad 'extreme'. Jus my 2 cents worth..
51 should remain as 51. Do not have to cut into half. If it is cut half, people in Geylang/Eunos will have a hard time to travel to Alexandra Rd, they might have to walk a long way from Geylang Rd to Guillemard Rd to take 197. People along Queenstown MRT will also lose a bus to travel to Eunos Link, they might have to walk to Queensway to take 93. Besides, people along Chin Swee Rd will have no bus to go to Geylang Serai. This will bring in incovenient to the people living or working in certain areas along the route.
Just an example, I stayed in Hougang Ave 9, the SBST cut away 103 and left them to travel between Jalan Kayu and Serangoon. Now I don't have a direct bus to Chinatown. They have forced us, indirectly though, to take the NEL, in the end, we have to pay more. In order to save money, I walked to ave 8 to take 147.
As for 61. Areas such as Holland Rd and Clementi Rd does not have a direct bus service to Chinatown, cut off 61 and let it terminate in HBF will bring some inconvenient to the people living, working and studying in the mentioned areas. Meanwhile, Holland Rd does not have a bus to MacPherson Rd/Circuit Rd estate.
