LEEJZ! If you cant talk sense, then stuff sh.it into your bloody mouth! You very experienced ah? Who tell you 156 does not need DDs? I am a regular on 156 and I know it best, so dont argue with me. Experienced the tedious waiting times for 156, when the frequency is conked up or whatever reasons? The bus can be VERY PACKED, even sometimes in the afternoon non-peak. Weekends loading no good doesnt means does not need DDs.Originally posted by leeJZ:Svc 156 does have height restriction and I think DDs would have a hard time navigating the bumpy and narrow Sixth Ave. however, it does not need DDs. Loads during weekends are not very good, as it is mainly a schoolbus service, maybe just needs a few tweaks to its freq.
svc 90 can use DDs during peak hrs, but I dun think SBST would put VO3X or LO3X on it.
it does not need dds on weekends...i think it is like 151...Originally posted by gohby:LEEJZ! If you cant talk sense, then stuff sh.it into your bloody mouth! You very experienced ah? Furthermore, i believe 53 depserately needs DDs [If w/o height limit] much more than some of your services listed above.
Service 16 cannot use double deckers due to height restriction (3.3m) under Merdeka bridge and narrow roads in Joo Chiat. Currently buses do not pass under Merdeka bridge due to route diversion.Originally posted by NineGrains:top 3 choices for me are:
16 (possible? now that it no longer goes to the airport. any height restrictions?)
Express 518
131
16 passes beneath the Merdeka Bridge on the return trip. It runs opposite 11.Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 16 cannot use double deckers due to height restriction (3.3m) under Merdeka bridge and narrow roads in Joo Chiat. Service 131 may has a problem with double deckers along Dorset Rd. I remember that Dorset Rd is a narrow road. Also there seems a height restriction along Henderson Rd.
Nope.Originally posted by iveco:16 passes beneath the Merdeka Bridge on the return trip. It runs opposite 11.
The shelter connecting Blks 923 and 924 is almost 3 storeys high. But the shelter at the single berth is less than 4.5m high.Originally posted by iveco:One more thing, does Yishun Int have a height restriction? Does this affect 39 much if it is the case?
Maybe there is alternative services? Mind telling your boarding and alighting points for this service?Originally posted by NineGrains:ooorrr.....thank you.
looks like stuck with crowded 16 buses for me then.
Huh? LO3x? I never see before. But I had seen LO2x or maybe Leyland Atlantean on 139. If 139 ever had LO3x, does anyone have photos of it? That time I read a brochure (SBS) in there got show the next bus boarding display and I saw : 139? ...... SBS9142ROriginally posted by sBs_boy:Sorry to say that you are wrong.. when 139 was amended to ply into St Michael's Est, the LO3x did turn into St Michael's Est.. i remember seeing 139 DD Bus zooming down the slope while sitting in the Whampoa Food Center..
PTB1 and 2 would not be used as the whole ground transport system would be connected by a rail network to the new interchangeOriginally posted by mercedes_hispano:This is a dream:
If the new Terminal 3 at Changi Airport encompasses a new interchange without height limit, then I'll give all airport-bound buses DD's, including Bendy's for Service 858.
The other 2 basement interchanges might then be obsolete if everybody is then made to call at Terminal 3.
Are you sure that 38 cannot use bendy buses? Have you forgotten 290 having 999, the MB0405G bendy bus as a perm fixture on 290? If I remember correctly, there were no problems with 290 and bendy buses. DDs on 38 may be a problem though...Originally posted by sbs&tibs:38 cannot get DD because Simei rds are too narrow. Bendy bus even worse.
Yap.. it did have.. Used to study at a school along RiverValley Rd.. used to see the 139's LO3x buses climbing the slopes... but.. sad to say.. i was quite young at that time.. didnt really take down the fleet..Originally posted by sbs&tibs:Huh? I agree that bendy buses may not be able to be deployed on Service 38. The Tampines-Bedok sector may be easier for bendies to move about. However the Bedok-Tampines sector, in particular the Simei Road and Simei St 4 junction, where the buses will make a left turn, is hazardous to bendies and even to normal 12m buses. Notice that the line markings along Simei St 4 was redrawn further back, to allow buses to make a safe turn.Originally posted by supremebull:Are you sure that 38 cannot use bendy buses? Agreed. Took it several times, as well as watch it pass by, and 80% of the time it is almost empty. Then again, maybe tts because I dont usually see it during peak hours.Originally posted by kuekj:162 can have odd loads sometimes..
got once i took a 162 from old national library but the bus is basically empty..
another.. it was jam-packed. :X
Agree. That was the reason the BC gave me and he told me that there was DD & bendy training for 38 before it was introduced.Originally posted by Superbus:I agree that bendy buses may not be able to be deployed on Service 38. okay lah, 159 DDs can crash the Braddell Rd flyover and i'll look u up thenOriginally posted by SBS3624G:I cannot say which ought to have DDs, but I think that 161 does not require DDs at all. The VSOs ought to go to 74.
Okay lah, I think 159 needs a few DDs, can be quite packed at AMK.
