Synthetic or Mineral Based oil for your bike??

  I don't go for synthetic oils simply because I do not ride like a MotoGP rider. Am not doing redline gear changes in between traffic lights.
  Synthetic oil is designed for engines that produce extremely high rpms and generate alot of heat. Racing engines cannot use mineral based oils coz the oil cannot handle the extreme heat and will break down losing its lubricity.
  
  Engine oil holds the carbon and dirt and metal filings that is generated by the combustion chamber and gearbox drive train gears and also the byproducts from the clutch plates.
  
  Contrary to the belief... a good oil turns black fast. It is doing its job of trapping the carbon particles in suspension. Drain that out... and you drain all the potential harmful waste from the engine.
  
  I change the oil in my bikes at every 5000 km and the oil filter at every other oil change. And with our climate... no need the 10W40 stuff. 20W50 is best for local use.
  
  Synthetic or mineral based - what is your preference??

  For bike less than 3 years i prefer to use synthetic oil as it is lighter. for bike more than 3 years it is not advisable to use synthetic cause by that time our gasket start to worn out. by using synthetic oil, it can cause leaking to the block. prefer to use normal engine oil for more than 3 years bike but need to change every 1000km.

  Hi,
  I have been using fully syn engine oil for the past 7 yrs of riding.
  Been using 10w40 for my Super 4 and 20w50 for my Blackbird.
  I strongly agree that a higher grade of engine oil is needed for extremely high temp engine ie. Blackbird.
  i tried using 10w40 on blackbird to hit higher mileage but changed to 20w50 after 1000km because of the stronger heat coming.
  however, 2A bikes can still use 10w40 because of the 'lower' or acceptable emitted heat. 20w50 is more of a over-kill.

  Semi-syn might be a gd choice also.
  Anyway, u got to change ur 4t even if u r using those very top range ones. Cos it also gets dirty as mileage increases. Only advantages is that they dont breakdown so fast.

  but cooking oil will do for me
