Hi guys,
First off, sorry if this isn't a very 'high-speed low drag' type of topic.
I am looking to buy a sub-125cc motorcycle/scooter within the next month or so. Now, whilst shopping around for a 2nd hand bike, i get the impression that most cheap small cc bikes are using 2-stroke engines. Correct me if i am wrong, but it has come to my attention that such engines require you to manually mix oil with petrol when refueling. My question is:
How do you premix the fuel? Do you have to bring a measuring jug (dun laugh, i do not have a clue) to the petrol station when you want to refuel?
Thanks in advance for your help. I am really really confused. Help!
Edit: Also, any info on sccoters/motorcycles that are cheap to run, low maintainence, and are cheap to insure greatly appreciated. No Sport Bikes though; they are very expensinve to insure!
I am currently split between getting an automatic scooter and a proper bike with gears, etc. My concern is not being able to keep up with traffic when i visit nearby cities!
Note also that i am in a country with all 4 seasons. So i would need a bike that can be ridden in winter.
Hi Lee,
I'm not sure about bikes, but say if you're running a diesel car with a catalytic converter before the days of LRP, you'd just pump the appropriate proportion of diesel/petrol shown on the meter.
In any case, oil for petrol? haven't heard of that before...
for 2 stroke, mix 2T oil in patrol as indicated on container. slightly more or less is no problem. bikes can go on any season, although its abit harder to start in winters. also small cc bikes usually is air cooled, so no need to worry coolent freeze, or use antifreeze.
choice of bike, is up to you. but too old bike may give u headache in winters though.. i mean generally truth.
