question about 2b and aprilia......

i going for my tp on june so abit kan cheong... just wanna ask how many times did the ppl here went for the 2b tp b4 passing it?
And i must say i like aprilia the most but seems to me that whenever ppl mention that they would juz say the maintainece is high... anyone know how high is the high and got bikes to recommand IF i pass my tp.... -

Heard that aprilla is a very high maintance bike coz the parts very difficult to get coz it's italian made bike. But I tink that if you really take care of it and go for proper servicing regularly then it shouldn't be a problem lor. Anywhere me pass my TP 1st time.

no, maintainence is high because break down very easily, then gotta repair, then spoil again, then repair, then spoil... and so life goes on

NDR150: aprilia parts ARE NOT difficult to get, only thing is that it is more expensive coz everything is from italy, in fact, IDEAL motors got everything u need, from fairing to the side stand screws.
NISMOS:the same parts dosent spoil again after it is replaced if it is fitted well by a mechanic,

love rider, personally, if ur looking for a cheap transport bike, this is not the bike from you,
the bike is an italian racing bike, parts r lighter n weaker, n most aprilias now r more or less abused emotionally n sexually
however if u manage to get a gd one n near virgin, i can tell u, jus some slight mods n u will definitely like it, slight mods are needed for the bike to performed as aprilia is one of the most heavily restricted bike in sg, handling is definitely more special than jap bikes
budded, tat is if u r willing to take care n spend more money, equivialnt to a pretty but expensive wife
lastly,as aprilia rider has said, many thread had been posted on this bike, pls take a look -
aprilla is a great bike. infact all italian bikes r beautiful i can safely say that no japanese bike will be able to match their beauty. but only if u have a bigger budget to work on. the problems with realibility is coz most ppl buy the bike 2nd hand and the bikes r already abused. Mmm... Aprilia is a gd bike gd handlin nice look(but not Y2K tat wat i tin)but notin is prefect so tat y pipe restriction n high maintance cos italian bike.Mmm... normal service is notin even if u service once every 3-4 mth it still alrite but if tin like part spoilt then u headache lor cos part more expensive than japan bike ok but let said if u r lookin 4 power better take KRR,TZM or SP(but TZM e best) unless u can tahan ganna fine if not then u tahan ganna lap by those 150 bike lor but get these bike oni if u wan 2 change 2A in a yr time cos insurance expensive 4 these bike! heard tat there is no 3rd party 4 them??

Just my personal experience, as I previosly owned an eXtrema rs125.
No 2B bike which I tried could even come close when talkin about handlin (fitted with a nice pair of rubbers that is... somethin like gpr70). Track sessions with the bike was exhilarating.
Maintenance wise, monthly trips to the workshop to get your gearoil changed, valve cleaned, carbs cleaned and properly tuned, will ensure that your bike doesn't break down.
As for the wear and tear of parts in the bike, I personally had numerous clutch plate replacements as I loved the acceleration of the half-clutch technic... which was abusive and torturing to the bike. A chain/sprocket change a year...
Though it was painful getting stopped repeatedly for fitting-on an RSpipe, and getting a hefty fine in the end which ultimately made me give the bike up, The bike I must say... is a SENSE OF WONDER

Parts are hard to get due tat it's an italian bike mah...therefore quite ex oso...but if you can afford it....it shd not be too big a problem...rem to change to a smaller pipe if you realli buy one,coz it looks like a milk or milo tin....guess everyone knows tat...if you are tinking of getting a 2A bike....for class 2B jus get any bike loh....Gd Lucks!!!!

Use only the best fully synthetic 2T u can afford from day one and ensure tt the bike is properly warmed up before winding up the throttle.
If getting a 2nd hand aprilia, do check tt the bike frame's integrity is intact and look out for any sign of major crash damage -
My tp on 19 of june supa kan cheong hehe hope can pass on 1st attempt......Aprilia rider thanks for the advice me search for past post liao saw super lots of tips.... haizz but my tp is bout 1 1/2 mths after my last lessons so think muz pratice lots if not rusty liao haizzz thks anyway
after all of the advice i think my choice is denfintly btw RS and SP...... just have to make a choice of these two and
l3stat mention about the testing of parts.... i would really take note of that thank you just hope that my friend knows about all these chim chim things......(fingers crossed)

engine-wise he should be able to hear whether the piston ring is loose or worn out or not.
take note of all small small things damaged or worn. italian parts are expensive. i got a spoilt speedo on my cagiva, thought it was cheap to replace, turns out to be $296 for a stupid speedo.
if i'm pro enough on aprilias, i'll help you, but.. too bad i'm not man..

For me, if i get a 2nd hand bike, I'll first check:
1) Front/Rear Brake Discs(rotorS) - whether warped
2) Front/Rear Brakes/calipers - working or not
3) Front/Rear shocks/suspension
4) Front/Rear Tyres - How much life left
5) Chain/sprocket - How much life left
6) Alignment of handlebar with front wheel
7) Steering cone - too stiff?
Trust me, you won't want to change the front brakedisc as they costs about $600++ for one piece. Then go ahead with the engine and bike run test:
1) Check if difference in bike idling sound when clutch in - determines if housing is loose and needs gasket/housing replacement
2) Rev to the Max gradually, to determine max rpm - this will tell if exhaust system is clogged with carbon residue, also checks if valves are working (will most probably be maxed at 10,000rpm on a stock milo pipe *yucks* and 12k-13k rpm if fitted with an arrow/rs/chamber pipe system)
3) Lastly, whether I'm comfortable with the bike itself. Take it for a spin maybe?
All of the above, of course, is subjected to whether or not permission is granted.
You can get your hands on parts easily from Ideal motors (aprilia agent) or from most motorshops around UBI. *not sure why people always like to spread the legend bout `parts hard to get', that's when the bike was firstly introduced to SG*
And pricing of the bike parts are somewhat similar to cagiva's. The bike won't blow a hole in your pants if you keep your ass on your seat and not BUANG. And if you're not so UNLUCKY as to pick one in a FUGGed up condition.
