petrol n carb

there is always a strong petrol smell on my bike when neber someone touch it. upon observing, i notice at the lower end of the carb, there is a small needle, something like a rivet sticking out, it is gold in color, it will leak petrol out something like 2 drops per 10 seconds, even thoughno one is touching it,is this normal, is it to prevent "diam you" ?

i think that little thing is called the needle jet. If your carb leaks, it may be dirty.

i think tat needle is 2 prevent overflow ah.
but if 2 much leak then it is not normal. Did ushut off the fuel? -
yaya... u switch off fuel switch...thn u start...let it run untill it dies off.... turn it on again thn start......i do this if tiong you

your fuel tap may be faulty. when it is in the off position, it fails to stop the flow of fuel to the carb, resulting in the overflow

ok after trying and asking around, yes , that needle is to prevent overflow,. but then aprilia is not like jap bikes, u want to off the tap, must dig like shit, coz it is directly under the tank, not by the side of the fairing, so how, those with aprilia pls help, i cant possibly lift up the oil tank everyday just to turn off the switch
