Hey, my bike time to change Engine Oil liao.
What Engine Oil u guys recommend?
Some say use 4T can already, say some Gear oil... .
Wat oil best?
Another thing, do u guys pour some 2T together into ur fuel tank?
Mixed with the petrol....?
Some say protect the piston, some say engine smoothe... .
Na bei, some even say PistOn will Jam ar when put!
So wat's wat, which is which?

wat bike?
i use fully synthetic rock oil for my nsr150sp (2t) and for gear oil i also use rock oil gear oil... -
I am using Shell Advance 4T for my engine oil. Using Yamalube 2S for 2T. I never mix it in my fuel tank but put it in my 2T reservoir. So far no problems whatsoever in my TZM.

but some mototiams have told me that 4t is meant for jap bikes while gear oil is for italian bikes.
however when it comes down to usage, they're both the same basically. as long as they do their job.
maybe i wrong lah, but i seen quite a few debates about this on several other forums liao.

how much is one bottle of rock oil? is it fully synthetic?

I believe when someone says rock oil, it means mineral oil which is natural oil (ie non-synthetic).
I agree that one should follow what the bike manual states. Make sure the basic specs are met then you can start experimenting with different brands. -
hmmm Rock Oil is a brand for engine oil/gear oil...semi-syn is $12 and fully-syn is $28 @ ubi first motor

For your question .... what oil are you going to change ? 4T or 2T ? If you are changing 4T, I bet you already know that the oil is topped up at your engine gearbox case. If you are changing your 2T, you pour it into s small plastic tank found under your seat. If you have that plastic tank there, you pour it there. There is a 2T pump to pump the correct amount of 2T oil into your fuel. Normally, you dun pur 2T into your fuel tank. If you do, I think you are going to get lots of oily smoke at your exhaust. Dun pour into your fuel tank, ok ?
Now, if I am not wrong, 4T lubricates your gears in the gearbox. The 2T oil lubricates the piston in the cylinder of your engine, so that the piston does not get stuck in it. When the 2T is sprayed into the piston area for lubrication, naturally, it gets mixed with the fuel. There is a proportion ratio of 2T to be mixed with the fuel. That's why you have a 2T pump. The pump will meter the correct of 2T into the engine system. If you spray too much 2T, you get a lot of white smoke at your exhaust.
I am using Castrol GPS for 4T and Castrol Sportec for 2T. If your bike is new, most advisable to use fully synthetic as it gives maximum protection.

No its not the same actually ...coz all oils are differnet juz like all bikes are different ..for most bikes the maunfaturers recommed a certain gear oil for use.. but the thing is that the dealers in singapore want to increase porfit margins or are too damn lazy so they do not bring them all in... the bike shop say its ok coz they do not have to recommended oil for your bike so of coz to make a buck they will say its okie to use 4tOriginally posted by kof-guy:er actually i feel they're the same leh.
