What to look out for 2nd Hand Bike?

  Hi all ? Can i ask for advice how to look for defects in a 2nd hand bike?
  
  1) tell tale signs of accident like new paint job / chip at the throttle handles or crooked handle bar
  
  2)Dents at contact point
  
  3.) mileage
  
  4.) others - like lights , starter , signal , tyres are working fine - though not so much a prob since they can be replaced cheaply
  
  5.) How to tell if engine is good??
  Biting pt and maneouvrability ?
