hi.
taking my 2b rite now. maybe can get bike by feb 2002.
thinking abt getting either of those two. wonder if any1 here has experience wif both, can share thoughts?
fuel efficiency / maintenance / other pros n cons.

Many people have said .. got Phantom must wash and polish regulary. It doesn't have fairing to protect the chrome part... so on raining season... u know yourself ..
NSR's part rusty, wont be very obvious cuz it hide under fairing ... and got fairing to protect the engine if fall ...
Phantom can put accesories this + that + blablabla until big big like Harley... nice! After put so many accesories, you respray and put Harley logo, people who dunno bike oso think it is Harley ...
but NSR cannot modify too much.. maybe only color respray and engine(illegal)..
but NSR is sportbike hehehe .. .. young man's soul ... -
Depend on wat u like one...got alot like sports bike, but also got others who like cruisers and skippers. So u just decide wat type of bike you wan then decide the model lor.

going on to prac 2 at comfort. even though hit only 50km/h in circuit feel damn shiok liao. all the cars in the circuit r damn slow.

i think dat's quite fast loh. in circuit mah.
past the bend after the tp office got stretch of rd, open throttle, hit 50 den must slow down liao 4 the next bend. some more i first in my group so nobody block me in front. in fact after a few rounds i caught up wif the last guy, he damn poor thing bike always si chia so after dat i cannot speed liao.

circuit i go until sixty leh hahaha but cannot last very long coz circuit too small. i juz passed my tp last thursday got my Phantom 200 on Saturday... I can tell you the fuel consumption for phantom is very very small. 1 tank can last about 300-330km. The engine very loud very shiok, accelerate not bad...but i think cannot beat phantom 150. now my phantom still very botak, not much accessories yet going to fix them up on saturday..heeheeOriginally posted by Hanamichi:Cicuit u go until 50? -
Depends on wat kind of bike you like lor. if you like speed, then get kips by kawasaki lor, heard is the fastest bike in class 2b, faster then tzm and repsol. But as they have said, fairing bikes are more troublesome. If you like relax bike when riding then phantom will be good lor, nice, relax and fast oso, try getting 200cc phantom.Originally posted by more_salt:hi.

wat abt dirt bikes? wat r the more common models available to class 2B? r dey more expensive den nsr/phantom?

the ktm 200 model is quite a popular bike. it is very expensive compared to the thailand models. however its parts are all good stuff. names such as brembo, wp should sound familar to many.
other models include tw 200, wr 200 and ktm 125. maintenence is expensive compared to a road bike.
i cannot think of any reason why you should go for a scrambler.
cons
high centre of gravity
poor road grip
low top speed
parts are expensive
the wind resistance from the very upright position makes a rider more tired
especially dangerous when the road is wet
you are likely to tiptoe when the bike is in a standstill position, therefore the likelihood of a minor tipover is always present.

hmm... but wat r the chances of going offroad? if ur on singapore rd den as roger sed, chances of falling higher. kena run over by car damn bo huar leh.
anyway, wat abt honda xr200 ah? how much do u think one has 2 pay. -

thanx 4 any advice! maybe we'll be good friends... you're in luck cos quite a number ride SP here, and daniuge has a phantom 200.
not that it really matters, but phantoms don't have tachometers (you won't be that interested in the engine rev when riding a phantom) and trip meters. in my other post i mentioned that phantoms don't have main stands also, but then again, so don't a lot of bikes.
one good thing is that phantom 200s are 4-stroke, so you save on 2T, have a quieter engine (should be), but you have to change the engine oil periodically, once every 3000/4000km according to the guys here.

dr has lower shocks, so it's no surprise that more girls ride it. the kdx2 has been around for quite long, rather old design, and parts can be pricey (no agent in singapore). the XR and XL are 4 stroke, so you get the 4-stroke convenience, but like most have said, 4-stroke 2B bikes just don't cut it as far as acceleration is concerned. quite funny when it's a scrambler some more.

hey, l3stat, thanx 4 reply. i agree wif u, can't hv 4stroke when on lower cc. but i pillion on phantom 200 b4, quite powerful. maybe cos it's a new bike ft plate.
no tacho quite irritating. i drove a van which did not hv one n when the road conditions were noisy i couldn't hear the engine 2 change appropriate gear.
so far the nsr150sp seems a gd choice, though so common ppl here call it a taxi bike. it's affordable n after reading some threads here, it's also supposed 2 b reliable.
oh, thanx 2 every1 who contributed or r going 2 contribute... to dis thread. -

I'm at practical 6 now. Going for lesson on the 18th this month.
Anyway, what's the price for phantom and NSR? Which cost lower to buy? -

by the way, any1 know of any gd reason not 2 pay 4 a bike in one payment? assuming u hv the $ of cos. -

i think pay in full better lor...the interest can kill...

Eh... can i add something...
if supposely u are riding a sports bike... u go into carpark of Bugis Junction... (hehe some of you might already know what i am going to say...)
U go over a HuMp!! "BoNg"!!! that's right!!! the stomach of your lovely bike keeps hitting on the Humps(Sim Tia!!!)... because the humps are too high... u can even see the scratch marks left by others..
But for a scrambler... u'll never hit the hump...(a pro for scrambler)...
some ppl will tend to tiptoe when stopping while riding a scrambler...
Advise: Ride a Scrambler if you are taller than 180cm...
Tiptoeing is very dangerous...!!!
But ppl who are tall(more than 180cm) ride sports bike even more Stylooo!!! coz your legs are able to kiap the tank and your hands and body will be in a comfortable position..(Like me... keke..)
